Man, two heartbreakers in a row. Honestly, there were so many reasons Florida should have won, but when you start seeing so many 4th and 1s and Les Miles going for it instead of kicking the FG.. reminds me of teams that run the table. Florida had that kind of luck last year. I'm rooting for LSU now - go SEC.

I'm not sure what you guys are so happy about...two of Joxur's top ten teams that don't belong there that fell out are back in the top ten and Arkansas' biggest win is Troy.

But yeah going into the season I thought returning eight starters from a defense that was awesome would still be awesome. I was way wrong. Those three guys are complete non-factors.

Two items from EPSN.com:
Quote:
ESPN has learned that Michigan coach Lloyd Carr will hold a 10 a.m. press conference on Monday at which time he is expected to announce his retirement.

and

Quote:
Houston Nutt is not expected to return next season as Arkansas football coach, multiple sources told ESPN.com Friday night.

I really don't care one way or the other about Carr, but I so hope that it is true about Nutt.

Actually, I agree (I kinda had him picked to win it all season). He has proven that he is the best college football player in the nation (too bad McFadden's boys suck so bad).

The only thing that will hold back Tebow from winning the Heisman is he is only a Sophomore. Heisman voters don't vote for Sophs. IMO he has been the best player in college football this year. And you are right (damn I hate agreeing with neesha) it is too bad that the rest of the hogs couldn't help D-Mac. If we only had a QB. Oh wait... Nevermind.

200yds rushing, 3 rushing TD's, 1 passing TD all AT LSU

I think D-Mac just re-validated his Heisman.

PS - WHOOO PIG! What an AWESOME win!

I'm not a Fla fan by any stretch of the word, but McFadden

has had a good year, by no means great, and by no means more

deserving of the Heisman than Tebow and the records he set, just because he's a

Sophmore. Tebow should win this years Heisman going away

and if not its almost as big a travesty as when Herschel Walker

didn't win it as a Sophmore.

the Heisman is a YEARLY award not a CAREER award.

I'm hoping for Chase Daniel to win it, especially after his performance against KU. Look at those numbers, something like 41-47 for 380ish yards and 3 TD's, no INT's.

Daniels played the 34th toughest schedule. Tebow played the 5th toughest.

Missouri on Florida's schedule would have 3-4 losses.

If Daniels gets the Heisman, it will prove two things. That Sophomores can never win it, and that it's not for the best player in college football.

1. Tebow broke the SEC record for rushing TDs. That's against running backs, folks. He smashed it.
2. He tied the record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. NCAA record.
3. He is the first player to ever score 20 rushing TDs and 20 passing TDs.
4. He has 51 touchdowns. In a system where he accounts for more than 70% of the total plays. In other words, people know he's going to do something, and he still can't be stopped.
5. Even in FLs losses, it was the defenses fault. Tebow played well. Even against GA with a bum shoulder, he still had something like 300 yards passing.
6. He's scored at least 3 TDs in all but one game this season. He's gone something like 12 games straight with 1 rushing and 1 passing TD. This is against the 5th toughest schedule.
7. He is second in the NCAA in passing efficiency.

Tebow is having one of the most dominant seasons ever in college football.

Every week, it's been someone else on a top 10 team to get attention. First it was John David Booty. Then Matt Ryan. Then Todd Reesing. Then Mike Hart. Tebow is the only one who has stayed in top 3 of the Heisman lists most of the season, but people are looking for a reason NOT to give it to him.

After watching the Mizzu/KU game last night I have lost a lot of respect for both QB's.

Neither team has much defense and both of their schedules were cupcake. Hell, only Mizzu played Oklahoma (and lost) neither played Texas.

Now before each snap both QB's had to look back at the sideline for the audible call. I have never seen a system where the QBs had to look back at the sideline for the audible. You'd think that they would be good enough to know what to audible to but they have to get it from the sideline. For Kansas it was funny watching the WR's, RB and QB all turn around to get the audible.

Jox, you are right, if either team played an SEC schedule they would have at least three losses and neither QB would be even mentioned as a Heisman candidate.

IMO the Heisman is between Tebow and McFadden. Both of them are freaks, Tebow had more support around him. Tebow and McFadden are the top two non-kickers in points scored in the SEC. Looking at Tebow's game by game numbers he has one HELL of an arguement. He scored at least two TD's in every game. He scored at least one RUSHING TD in every game. Auburn and Georgia were the only two teams to only allow one TD pass (he scored one TD rushing vs Auburn and two vs UGA). McFadden is the #2 all-time leading rusher in the SEC (Herschel Walker is #1) and has the #4 season total in rushing in the SEC (if he gets 28 yards in the Bowl game he will be #3 - behind Walker and Bo Jackson). McFadden's 344 All-purpose yards vs South Carolina this year is #4 all time in the SEC.

Well, not every college QB is allowed to call his own audibles, so them looking towards the sidelines means nothing to me. I agree that Daniel is a good QB, but he's no superstar. Give the award to the best player in college. Give the award to someone who means more to his team than anyone else. Give the award to someone who wins games by himself. Tebow deserves it.

Plus, Missou will lose next week. This season is too screwed up for them to actually win that game. After next week's performance, when he has 350 yards, 2 TD, and 2 INT, and they lose, I don't think there will be any doubt that Tebow is the better/more deserving QB.

Plus, Tebow played the last half of the 3rd quarter and all of the 4th with a broken hand. This is the same guy who played with a broken leg in high school

If you want to talk injuries, McFadden played several games in the middle of the year with brused/cracked ribs.

Either player is very deserving of the award. I hope they go 1-2.

There is a press conference tonight at 6:30pm CST to address Nutt's future at Arkansas. There is a report that the school and Nutt have come to a buyout agreement.

Add Arkansas to the list of schools with an opening.

In a semi-related note: I saw that Coach Fran is a candidate for the SMU job. Ouch!

he resigned, took the money and ran to Ole Miss. I wonder if the Razorback Foundation got a courtesy reach around?

but honestly I think that Nutt leaving will actually be a good thing when it all playes out. Next season - with Nutt on the Hill or not - will be a tough year. We will be replacing 22 Seniors (and a few Juniors that will be in the NFL next year). We don't have a quality SEC QB on campus. Nutt has been losing many of the top in-state players to out of state schools (most to fellow SEC schools) and some of the talent that he did bring in transferred out to other schools. If the fire was hot this year, it would have been many times greater next season and the talent would have suffered even more. Now we have an opportunity to get a new face to lead the Razorback nation and begin the re-building before it became too big of a task.

Some of the rumors I am hearing on possible replacements are funny:

Bill Cowher (was rumored to be in Fayetteville playing golf with Jeff Long - the incomming AD)
Jimmy Johnson (he was to have been the head coach before Ken Hatfield got the job; he was a teammate of Kenny on the 1964 Championship team)
Tommy Tuberville (he is an Arkansas Native and was supposed to get the job before Nutt was hired)
Butch Davis (Arkansas Native and really good friends with the Tysons - yes, the chicken Tysons that are HUGE Arkansas financial supporters)

Of all those I could only see Davis coming to Fayetteville because of his Tyson connection and that is only if he hasn't signed the contract extension UNC offered him.

If you're watching the Tennessee/LSU game, you'll see Tennessee looking towards the sidelines for audibles as well.

I look at Daniel's stats, and I look at Tebow's stats, and think that Tebow is the winner.

Then I consider that Daniel shares his scores/plays with a competent running game, instead of getting every look on offense. And still puts up amazing numbers.

Honestly, my number one is neither Daniel nor Tebow, it is Brennan. Undefeated. 70% pass completion on the season. Currently holds 20 records in the NCAA. Averaging 375 passing yards a game. 170 in passing efficiency. If there is one player that has meant the most to his team, it is Brennan.

Put Brennan on any other team and he has 1/2 of those numbers. I couldn't vote for a system QB. If Tebow were at Hawaii running that offense they wouldn't call it a record book but a Tebow book.

Lived in Louisiana for first 33 years of my life. Lifelong LSU fan. Moved to West Virginia in 2005. Been huge Mountaineer fan for last 11 years, since my wife was from here.

After the last 2 weeks, I think I'm done with college football.

Hooray for the BCS. Let the debate begin.

Tebow wins the Heisman as it should have been

McFadden was LESS than gracious in defeat and REALLY

wanted that announcer to shut up mentioning how he was 2nd place for the 2nd year in a row

and how that happened since such and such had did it.

Can't blame him for that though, wouldn't want someone

pointing that out to me over and over either.

Rich Rodriguez has done amazing things at WVU. No denying that.

But how does a guy who could never win "The" big game get one of the most prestigious job in college football from a school that fired its last coach because... he couldn't win the big games?
