No, Tribes really was that good. It came out at a perfect time between the Quake lull and pre Half Life if I remember. The level of team/squad based focus was honestly ahead of its time.

Loading up a carrier and nosediving it into a mountain never got old. And the comedy gold that was the disc thrower, good times.

Mid-air disc dueling was fucking awesome. Hitting people in mid-air with those on dialup could be a pain in the ass.
