Left 4 Dead 2, the sequel to the best-selling and critically-acclaimed co-operative multiplayer thriller, promises to set a new benchmark for co-operative action games and become one of 2009's marquee titles. Set for release on November 17, the title adds melee combat to enable deeper co-operative gameplay, with items such as a chainsaw, frying pan, axe, baseball bat, and more. Featuring new Survivors, boss zombies, weapons, and items, Left 4 Dead 2 offers a much larger game than the original with more co-operative campaigns, more Versus campaigns, and maps for Survival mode available at launch. Left 4 Dead 2 is targeted for release on Xbox 360 and the PC on November 17, 2009.

I heard people today whining about boycotting it so that valve will make sure to keep updating L4D-1 which they scream 'needs more'.

i don't have any problem with new L4D, and i don't have any problem with paying $50 for new L4D. i do have a problem with the fact that i paid $50 for the one i have now if they're just going to replace it next year.

i'll still buy it and play the hell out of it, but i'm not wild about the business.

Great games like Left 4 Dead only come around so often, won't hesitate to spend $50 on the sequel. It's their loss, anyone who chooses to boycott (not that I believe anyone would actually follow through).

I rented L4D.. I'd probably buy the sequel.

I'll definitely buy L4D 2, but in some ways I think there's merit to the idea that there wasn't quite enough in L4D. Not that I didn't get what I paid for - I did, for the most part, and it's an incredible game. But if I had to give the game a fault, it would be the lack of maps(and before the update which took months, particularly multiplayer maps). I know, I know - custom maps and all that. But I would have been a bit more satisfied with 2-3 additional campaign areas(or the equivalent number of maps) by Valve itself.
