Seems this turd is too big to properly flush. Steam is getting hammered hard.

If you want it, just go out and buy the box. I'm a sucker for digital downloading, but this is the last time I get anything that way that doesn't come with a preload.

I'll tell ya all about it next week when it finishes downloading.

If anybody else went this route try this.

Rename or delete clientregistery.blob in your Steam folder. They reccomend just renaming it since it contains debug info that they use to troubleshoot.

Crap, I looked in stores today for Fallout 3 and all they had was PS3 and Xbox + Strategy guides. So I figured "oh well" ill get it on steam when I get back home.

I was surprised when I saw they don't offer the pre-load on steam a few days ago. Guess i'll just "Skycrasher" it until retailers receive the PC box.

Edit-- Fuck that bought it on steam anyway, 490KB/second not bad, at this rate i'll play in a few hours.

It was terrible about 30 mins after they unlocked it. I went from 1.2mb/s to 50kbs. So many angry people.

Guess it cleared up while I was in class, mines all done now.

I was pretty worried the FPS switch would make this game terrible. I was wrong. Enemies are pretty tough, even in normal mode. the V.A.T.S. targeting makes it a lot easier.

Grenades are overpowered, but they use them against you also. Sometimes I've seen low tier enemies chuck one at me but it gets too close to their buddies and saves me the work.

Easily game of the year, I see it and Gears 2 fighting for the top spot. I hope they take what they have learned and done with this game and apply it to The Elder Scrolls series as well.

Fantastic RPG. So far it looks like there is enough replay content for a handfull of playthroughs.

Bloody mess is a must have perk.

LOVE IT!

If you're debating about whether to get it, and liked the original...it's a must buy.

I wish an RPG like this came out 1-2x a year. Last really good one of this caliber IMO was VTM:Bloodlines (and sadly that was buggy as shit when it came out...but was fixed up and was a fantastic RPG).

While I like Vampire and Star Wars and fantasy RPGs...Fallout is an all time favorite.

Also anyone lamenting they didn't shell out the big bucks for the CE/LE swag...apparently it's had problems similar to Bioware's Big Daddy dolls. Lunchboxes with massive denting...Pip Boy clocks not working.

Makes me happier I didn't shell out for it (and I was tempted).

Why? Left 4 Dead is a good buy also. Easily the most fun FPS Valve has put out.

yea i agree w/ givin left 4 dead is one of those games that just insanely fun, unlike most other zombie "horror/survival" games, though it doesn't really fall in that genre like RE and such do.

definitely a fun game. i'm having a blast with it! i put GoW2 on hold to play this one.

It's a good game, I personally like TF2 better but it's good. My condolences spawn from the fact that Fallout 3 is more of a masterpiece than L4D is. If I had a choice, I would pick the better game(assuming I had no money to get both, as he indicated). 2 different genres granted, but if we're talking about sheer quality, F3 takes it hands down.

Even if L4D was better...F3 is the better choice for me, as I'm not a huge FPS fan. I like F3 for the RPG and storyline components.

To each their own, genre certainly plays into individual choices.

I don't hate FPS games, I'm just pretty 'meh' on them overall. But I've heard FANTASTIC things about L4D...enough that I'd pick it up if WotLK wasn't coming out so soon. I won't even have time to finish F3 for awhile I think.

As I mentioned, Fallout 3 will be the breakaway GotY. But for it to maintain its head of steam it will come down to the mod community to keep it going, just like Oblivion. The games are very similar, and I'm sure, at least I hope so, they left the door open for modders to add in their own content to the game.

It is Oblivion, with guns. And that is a good thing, so long as they eventually release a mod toolset.

idk i like mirror's edge and world at war better, gears of war 2 is just a better gears of war 1 which was innovative but not very fun except multiplayer, and fallout 3 is just 19 hours of roaming around, 1 hour of dialog, and 100 hours of boring fetch quests and unengaging combat

It is awesome...except for the constant fucking crashes and lockups. I have a new 80Gb PS3...have only played Rock Band, Rock Band 2, and Company of Heroes on it...I haven't tampered with the thing at all...so I know it has to be the game crashing my console. Over the last week of owning it, I would say I have had to endure at least 30 crashes that force me to turn the system completely off and restart it. Saving nonstop is absolutely essential. I had no idea console games could be so buggy or cause crashes. Surprise!!

Aside from that, I'm with Tarot. I'm not a fan of FPS, but the Fallout series has always been a big favorite for me because of the storyline and such.

That's odd because the PC version is rock solid. (at least for me) Aren't consoles supposed to be more stable due to having identical hardware opposed to PC's hardware / drivers compatibility?

No problem with PC version aside from the shitty way Steam handled initial distribution.

So not happy about the crashes and lockups on the PS3 version. Sooooo not happy! It's the only game I've had this happen with. Oh well...just forces me to do lots of saves.

So, I just leveled and I picked the perk that reveals all the locations on the map. Ten minutes later, I finished the game. I was thinking, "OK, cool, now I can go back and check out all of those other places that I have not been to yet." But, no...the game ends. Lame. Sure, sure...I can go and play a previous save, but I really wanted to play after starting up the purifier and stuffs. I wanted to hear what Three Dog had to say about it and all that, too. Bleh.

Modding tools are out now. Should be some great shit soon. Already nude patches, actually I think that only took a matter of hours and was one of the first mods available from Fallout Nexus.

Speaking of Steam, Rockstar and to a degree Valve, can kiss my ass for the abortion of a release that is GTA4.

Oh, and you should fucking see the amount of protection in this fucker for trainers and mods. All that effort to stop me from using a garage trainer. Really? Fuck off Rockstar.

On a positive note, the older GTA games released through Steam are FLAWLESS in Vista x64. Well done there at least.

With regard to the game ending "early", I know a lot of people complained about that. I agree it would have been nicer to allow you to explore after the ending and have some "ending content" such as seeing what people have to say... still, I am just thankful that I have like 10 different saves at various points throughout the game so I can go back to whatever I want. Personally, I constantly saved right up until the point where I thought it was looking like a large event was going to take place(before you enter the Jefferson Memorial for the final event). Highly recommended on all such RPGs =p

Seriously a fuckawesome game, though. People who are expecting this to be some sort of GRAND monument to stellar gameplay and don't care about anything else are going to be disappointed with it. The FUN part of it is in exploring, seeing the different sites, appreciating the open-endedness of the game, and enjoying the physical aspects of it(such as blowing people up in about 100 different ways with 50 different weapons). This is not, as never was intended, to be a staple of RPG gameplay. Though, even so, it's not horrible in that respect either.

Another thing I enjoyed with regard to the locations was seeing it in ruins when I had already visited Washington DC. When I was exploring the Mall, a friend of mine behind me who had spent more time in DC than I had pointed out "Let's check out the Museum of Technology, it's over that way I'm pretty sure". Sure enough, it was in the exact direction he pointed. Walking into it, and seeing the mammoth etc it brought back some memories =) Really loved the Capitol building as well.

Would love it if you'd link to some good mods.

I'm personally hoping that someone mods the ending to make it similar to F1 (which notes a lot of the little things you did etc)
