For you Penny Arcade fans, the first episode of their game is out. I bought it and installed, and I love it. To me, it brings back all the nostalgia of Earthbound, one of my favorite games of all time. The goofy weapons and abilities coupled with the dry and ridiculous wit that we've come to know and love through the strip make for a great experience.

I've only played briefly, but the combat system looks like it has the potential to be fun also. It's definitely not super-deep with all kinds of crazy counters and combos, but it's not just button mashing either. Most special abilities are interactive, meaning you have to press buttons during use to maximize their potential rather than just clicking them and watching them crush all the yard trash random battles.

If you're a fan of the strip, I think this is definitely something you'd enjoy just based solely on the fact that it's an entire story built around Gabe and Tycho. If you're not, I still think it's worth a look, and you can download and play the demo for free. The site also has a four-part backstory (in comic form) that sets up the game and the world in which it takes place.

Just in general though is what I was talking about... every time I go to a website its like an unfun game of hide and seek with the system requirements. If I had a game, I would put a link on the front page that said "system requirements"

when your system requirements are "any machine build in the last 7 years" it's not really necessary to make them easy to find.

I would also add that when you have a good computer you don't care about requirements. You know you can run it.

The sys req. for just about every game I look for are buried somewhere. I have had some good luck with wiki listing sys. req.

A preview of Episode 2 was shown at PAX, but we couldn't play it. There are multi-phase fights now, where you defeat one wave of dudes and there's immediately more dudes, so your buffs last through, but you can't heal up between or anything.

The combo stuff has been switched around, and should be easier to use now.

Tycho's Tommy gun has been exchanged for a shotgun.

Everyone has over a thousand fucking hitpoints.
