Huckabee 'says no', widens open GOP field
Full Story

As much as I personally like Mike Huckabee, I am somewhat pleased that he is not running for president in 2012. There are some of his core issues that he would have front and center in his campaign that I simply do not agree with. Would that cause me not to vote for him if he were running, honestly I don't know. I don't know if just being friends with the person is enough to automatically get a vote for US President.

I think the GOP field just lost their most charismatic candidate and actual likable personalties with Mike not running.

I REALLY hope that in less than a week we will hear that Palin is not running as well.

Huckabee is a fairly intelligent guy. The GOP isn't winning 2012 so running would just diminish his chances for next time.

Maybe not, but it helps. You'd vote for Leo if he ran, and it's not 100% because you think he'd be good at it. We like Leo, and it would be wicked awesome, and I suspect most of the country is swayed by even less powerful arguments than that. A President's height and hair factor more heavily into the average voter's decision than his record -- so much so that every year we post guides on the right way to pick a candidate.

I guess that all depends on your vantage point. He's at about the same level as Sharron Angle for me.

Huckabee is probably a likable guy outside of the political/religious arena. Not like Ann Coulter, who I think is a shrieking harpy 24/7/365.

In a close setting Huckabee is a very funny and nice guy. He has a sense of humor that he does not get to show in the public arena due to people thinking that presidnetial candidates must be serious. (oh I bet he would just slay them at the Correspondents Dinner) He does this JFK impersonation that is spot on.

When you can get him to talk fishing or boating he is a totally different person. He has a genuine passion for those and it shows in how he talks about them.

I have watched him talk to people that are about as politically opposite as one could be and at the end they would have a like and respect for Mike.

On another note, Trump is now out. Please, please, please Palin make that announcement that you are not running.

I can understand the "Mike is nice" angle. He does come off as likable in interviews.

Definitely have a lot of problems with his politics though.
