And what the student fails to understand is that, if it is/was done as promised, it's still a significant cut in the pure bureaucracy that DC has become. When that's combined with the fact that we need a solidified starting point, and that much of that we can supposedly cut but we really can't, as a lot of STILL goes to crucial programs, even if you want to argue that the military spending is overboard, that little slice of a penny seems pretty gargatuan in the larger scheme of things. But, as always, people will either buy into either massive monetary amounts that they can't objectively discern from larger amounts, or watch an amateur youtube video that doesn't come close to illustrating the dynamic involved. Pick your poison. I'll agree that 100 million is not even a drop in the bucket, but it's still a silly video.

And no offense Worthy, but speaking of perspectives... I'd do anything to see you post a link/video that doesn't fit squarely into the anti-Obama anti-liberal camp. Just sayin', sometimes it's helpful to see things from a variety of viewpoints. No need to go Joxur on us.

Yah, any cut you make from the overall federal budget is going to look like a teensy tiny little thing compared to the whole. That's kind of a big "duh" and it's a shame that people will probably watch that video and think that they just got enlightened or something.

Don't diminish the value of reducing spending. Any reduction is good, regardless of the amount. Half of it is just getting into the right mindset... We'll never get anywhere if we have an "Don't bother saving that money, it's too small an amount to matter".

Yea, and personally I think we can do much more than we are, but like you guys said the important factor here is the reduction itself. We've been steadily INCREASING the national budget for years now, so any trend in the opposite direction is significant, even if it ends up being a net increase/reduction of zero.

That mean like the deficit "surplus" Clinton bragged about while the national deby was still increasing?

Yup, and I employ mostly contractors and have been trying not to due to the cost. The way it ended up is we were paying market for the skills, plus the contract fees on top of it. So far we've lost three permanents due to the freeze (as promotion/lateral movement is for the next couple of years the way to get the bump) and had to hire ~8 contractors to replace them.

There was a DoD-wide push to reduce contractors and replace with a smaller number of permanent employees to save money. Then it was decided to put out the 2-5 year pay 'freeze' coupled with a 30-90 day hold on hiring. I can tell you from the inside, it ain't cheaper. In the long run it's about 3x more expensive.

Granted in some areas of government it's different. Maybe if it's taken in total somehow money is being saved but I'm very skeptical.

Of course, in the short term it's a chunk of money to point at and say lookee.

OK, just out of curiosity, since you brought it up, why was he so secretive about his birth cirtificate? I had to supply mine when I joined the Military and when I got my Passport. Something stinks.

You had to supply the same certificate of live birth that President Obama posted online, and the state of Hawaii has supplied numerous times to people who repeatedly request them.

The form he has not made available is the long form certificate of live birth. The only difference between the two is the amount of information that is on the certificate, though both make clear where you were born. Both are also legally recognized. Let me repeat that for you, both forms of certificate of live birth are legally valid and recognized by the government.

Fortunately, while I know that I'm wasting my breath, I'm also bored.
