Palin was considered a shining star, bright and energetic in the Republican Party because she was standing next to Mr. Freeze (McCain). Put her in a room with Huckabee, Jindal, Romney, or hell any other Republican with a pulse and she loses all of that shine -- becomes just a "pretty face in with the boys"

She is so out of her league now.

I think this is a lot of what pisses some women (At least my wife) off. This idea that Palin represents Women or something. That an attack on Palin is an attack on Women. That what Palin says, Women say.

God forbid someone attack her for what she is without people like you saying, "ZOMG SEXSIZT!!!"

In Wakka's defense, I think it's the taste of her pussy and the cock in mouth comments that came off as sexist, not the criticism of her politics.

I personally don't have a problem with the comments but then I'm probably a little sexist. I'm also put off by the fact that Sarah Palin still has political supporters to the degree that she does. Besides, I imagine that Tarot's comment was meant as a counter to the nasty comments Celtic has received from Palin supporters and feel it was appropriate in that context.

All I really want is people not to act with so much hatred and venom and be more civilized. If there really is a problem with her ethics then she doesn't deserve to be in office of any kind.

Now she fades to mediocrity. Even her own party won't look fondly on "It was too hard to do my job because people were mean and didn't like me!"

The more people feed the flames, the less likely she is to fade away into obscurity. How many times do we need to learn this lesson? The best thing you can do is ignore her antics if you really dislike her. Controversy breeds exposure.

And Celtic - you, of all people, should know you can't project the extreme e-mails and comments you get onto someone else.

I like how the public seemed to adopt Sara Palin's attractiveness as fact when it came out that someone had pointed a camera at her at some point in her life. She looks like every other rundown mother of 13 kids I've ever seen and I wouldn't have ever thought any different otherwise. I guess she might be 'Alaska hot' but let's not go there.

And sexism? Boo freaking hoo. That pendulum has definitely swung well over the line back in favor of women as far as most society goes.

Shrug. To each his own I guess. It really is a study in sociology though because I don't doubt your sincerity in that opinion, but I wonder what you would have thought if you were asked to judge without context.

For many, physical attraction gets conflated with emotional, societal, or other means of attraction. Of course, context is undeniably an integral part of attraction, but alas, I digress.

Here's a pretty solid example: it has been shown time and time again that people who smile more are rated as more attractive than they are when they don't. That has nothing to do with politics. That's just one of about a million factors that can result in a person's evaluation as "attractive" or "unattractive" that you DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT when making that judgment, if you're even aware of making the judgment itself. Many (in fact I would argue MOST) of those factors aren't even about physical attractiveness, which is the distinction I'm making here.

Look, I'll put it another way: do you think that Elvis and his music was really just *that attractive* that thousands of girls fawned over him at a concert based on that alone? Or is it possible that there's a feedback loop there; one girl sees that another is going gaga over Elvis, so she goes even gaga-ier.

If you can see that, can't you see that's not an exception but rather a rule of human attraction?

So when it comes out that Sarah Palin was a "model", i.e. that some jackass pointed a camera at her at some point in her life, some may be predisposed to see the attractiveness. Granted, it's not automatic, but it's more likely now that this convenient heuristic has presented itself for you.

True - she was a semi-attractive, somewhat personable, catchy person in the middle of nowhere. She wasn't ready for the scrutiny that comes with national office and now her various corruptions and hypocrisy have come to light.

It's just ignorance talking. Little boys who haven't actually seen a grown woman naked assume they don't look as good if they've had kids.

having been with my fair share of moms, I can tell you this -- some girls handle it well, some girls... don't. The last girl I was with who had a kid had horrible stretch marks on her stomach and tits, and it was a very unattractive effect.

the girls who take care of themselves while pregnant and who take care of themselves after don't have this problem, but it's sort of a 50/50 shot.

Well, your earlier post seemed to indicate that a chick who has kids automatically has a bad body and bad tits by default. That's simply not the case.

sorry, but a girl with a wrecked body and a cute face is overall not fuckable.

The last girl I was with who had a kid had horrible stretch marks on her stomach and tits, and it was a very unattractive effect.

So you refused to fuck her? Tell that shit to someone who will believe it if you can find them.

A lot of what happens to a woman when she has kids depends on how she takes care of herself. Yeah - if she socks on 90 pounds, it's gonna brutalize her.

I have to believe that a great deal of how things hold up is determined by genetics. I mean, it just seems to come naturally for some women to maintain their physique even after having kids, while leading a party lifestyle no less.

Lets get back to Palin here. The original consensus was that she was bailing due to some pending investigation. Now that seems to be morphing into she's bailing to cash in on her celebrity without the accountability problems office brings. I just don't know what to think at this point.

But I am curious to hear from Palin supporters. Do we have any around here? I mean this woman could have been a heartbeat away from the presidency. Has that at all become frightening to you at this point?

Oh to be a fly on the wall in McCain's office, I'd love to hear his unfiltered thoughts.

From Cunning Realist:
Quote:
If death comes in threes, and political deaths are no exception, who's next after Sanford and Palin?

We'll see if she's born again, either in 2012 or later. But for now her resignation (and her bizarre announcement of it) confirms how much was at stake for this country last November. The months since have not gone well for her, and in that sense her quitting is a desperate and understandable attempt to stop the clock. Do it now, while some still think of her up on that stage in Minnesota -- fresh, composed, and articulate. This is a politician who does not age well. In American political history at the national level, has any figure ever been simultaneously so charismatic, fascinating, frustrating, and terrifying?

As time passed, Palin's appeal exposed some dark undercurrents in the national character, and this will demand vigilance now as her orphaned supporters lash out at those who "brought her down." Frustration and anger were growing on the Right, especially on the fringe, even before she quit. Absent a miraculous upturn in the economy, it increasingly feels like there's some sort of seminal socio-political event brewing out there. Her resignation could hasten that or bring it into sharper focus. It's unlikely to defuse it.

What's funniest about that article is that people somehow still think Palin matters in any way, shape or form.

She does Bov, like it or not, she does. She will not disappear into the night.

From David Frum:
Quote:
Between her speeches and her book deal, she can reasonably hope to earn $10 million over the next two years. She’ll fly in private jets, sleep in sumptuous hotel suites, receive rhapsodic applause.

Yet there will be no escaping another story line. Faced with exasperating criticism and the accumulating cares of public office—she quit to cash in. Her admirers can excuse anything, but to the much larger audience of non-admirers, Palin will look a lot like those CEOs who wrecked their banks and the national economy while accepting huge bonuses for themselves. John McCain’s slogan in 2008 was "Country First." Palin’s in 2012? "I seen my opportunities, and I took 'em."

...fresh, composed, and articulate.
Who the fuck ever thought of her as composed or articulate? And she's far beyond fresh at this point, I can't imagine there's anyone who's not sick of hearing about her.

But...Who does she matter to?

It's almost incomprehensible to me that any human being could possibly look at Sarah Palin and find that she's relevant/important to....anything.

Apparently they do, and that's almost depressing to me. I felt so bad for McCain when she started to open her mouth and I saw what he had done to his own ticket.
