So at what point does the Republican party need to start reassessing it's ring-wing religious stance in the face of the constant revelations of high-ranking members' fuck ups? I mean, seriously, how many Republicans have been in the news over the past 2 years with some sort of sex scandal?

Now, I'm not saying the Democrats haven't been hit with any scandals of their own, but they aren't the ones thumping their bibles. It just seems so much more hypocritical when a Republican gets caught doing this shit.

Yeah, heh. There are several of those sorts of contradictions. I hate politicians. If the GOP were fiscally conservative and left their religion at the door, I could actually support them a tad.

Just watched his press conference and I'm quite impressed with how he handled it. Found him quite sympathetic. Now I'm sure someone will pull some holier than thou quotes from him regarding the sanctity of marriage and that'll change.

Holy smokes.. I thought this was about Ensign. I didn't read the link. Bwahaha.. the guy was on a BOOTY CALL? The Lt Gov was on Georgia's local NPR station out of ATL last night during rush hour, and he was just talking about how it was a bit inconsiderate for the gov to go on a hike without telling people.. but he was on a booty call?? I was wondering what would happen when they found his SUV at the airport. Wow.

big hub bub about missing gov and the guy just had an irresistible urge. Wow. heh. That's fucked up.

As earlier posters said, if the Republicans would leave their religion at the door, I'd have less difficulty getting on board. Just be the fiscally conservative group and we're good.

Not true. That was our state attorney general, Henry McMaster, not Sanford.

(Not that it makes Sanford any less of a hypocrite...just wanted to correct it, tho :p)

I'm not sure why that bothers you, Bovinity. I think it's pretty fair to say that most of us have ideals that we don't live up to. That doesn't necessarily make the ideal wrong.
