I don't really know much about this guy beyond this Politico interview. But if the interview is representative of his actual governing philosophy, I really like what he has to say. I feel like the Republican Party would be much more effective as a pro-business, pro-conservation, socially moderate bunch. And, as much as I'm a pretty partisan Democrat, I have an inherent distrust of any one group having dominance in Washington.

Anyway, I think this is the kind of guy that a smart Republican Party should be looking at for 2012, not Palin or Jindal.

Well, sort of. He appears to be very pro-life and very pro-gun. But he's also pro-conservation and supports civil unions for same-sex couples. I think that puts him more in the mainstream of American thought than the social conservative wing of the Republican Party.

I am almost complete there too.. the two things I have issues with are the Pro-Life and Same-Sex unions, I believe that neither of these are state or Federal Governments place. These are personal and religious issues.

Devil, I used to be that way about Same-Sex Unions. But, if any government is going to recognize or allow benefit to hetero-marriage then it must do the same for Same-Sex Unions. We can not have a second-class status for law abiding citizens. This needs to come from on-high and that is how the message should be framed.

Agreed, krby

My thought on Gay Marriage, is this. All a marriage is to a Government is a fucking piece of paper and $50.00. I should not matter who or what gets married as long they both have agreed to it out of there own free will. Then the Government should say here is your piece of paper Fribur you and your goat have a nice day.

It's not. You're probably thinking of the self named fundementalist Mormons...who are not only outside the law, but are NOT a part of the LDS church.

Basically it's like if Fred Phelps were to call himself a Baptist minister, I'm sure no actual organization of Baptists would say he represents them or their viewpoints, and that he's not a part of *their* group.

Now of course if you're referring to something else, I'd be interested in hearing it. I could be missing something.

The FLDS is not "outside the law". Saying that is pretty damned ignorant. The FLDS does not require its members to attain legal marriages to multiple partners. It does often require that males have multiple wives, though in a religious sense rather than a legal one.

Contrary to popular belief, that is not illegal. There is a reason that in the majority of polygamy cases that the state goes out of their way to first get the family recognized as being married by common law. Without that distinction, having multiple religious unions is not illegal in any state.

There Religion is outside of popular Americana religion, there for a law was passed against it, well part of it, the polygamy. Which is why I have a problem with the law, there is no reason that the government should care if you want to marry 1 goat or marry a goat and a sheep.

I am sorry to here that you have a problem with your self, but you should really refrain from calling your self stupid, it's not good for your self-esteem.

Those are pretty easy ones.

Maybe I'm thinking of Fundamentalist Mormons, I really don't know. I honestly didn't know there was a difference (and I didn't care enough to check). :D

Utah by and large sucks, agreed. Salt Lake City is the shit though.

Gov. Huntsman isn't the worst Gov. in the nation. He's much better than that new twat Gov. Brewer in AZ, imo.

I mean WTF... who comes up with this shit... anyway thanks again.

There are really two types of Mormons
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church)
The followers of Joseph Smith who follow and believe in plural marriage.
All Mormons followed the teaching of Joseph Smith, in 1890 LDS abandoned the practice of plural marriage.

It amazes me how all Dyslexics just so happen to be lazy assholes as well. "Gee, I know that I suck at spelling stuff, but it's just TOO HARD to use the built-in spellcheck."

It's buried in the back yard. We dig it up every couple of weeks so the kids can see what a rotting corpse looks like. You should stop by and take a gander.

sigh... that is the number 1 common thing people think of when you say Dyslexia. That is most of the time what happens but spell checking takes care of that but not with the miss use of words.

Tyral the Kithless wrote:

Dude, your so right, there is no such thing as Dyslexia, its just made up. Since you know all there is now since in arguing with you, I mean you know how things look to me better than I do. **sigh **

The thing I find most amazing is that Libra's talk about be so tolerant to others yet when you disagree with them that call you names and attack you every way they can thing of rather than on the topic. This is just more proof of that. So to put thing in terms you will under stand go FUCK your self and just shut the fuck up.

Tyral was our skyscrasher before we had skycrasher. I kind of always thought skycrasher had just killed him and taken his place. I see, though, that this has always been part of the plan, kind of like what would have happened if Luke had joined up with Vader. We're so fucked.

I'm tired of being banned so I'm behaving more kinder now. Or trying at least.

I'm hungry. ;( Drove down to Phoenix for a funeral on Friday after work, attended services on Saturday. and left Sunday AM. Made killer time, 9.5hrs for a 670 mile drive, but I was so exhausted my daughter and I just crashed when we got home. Woke up this morning running extremely late and didn't eat. Can't wait for lunch.
