Did anyone else see that interview? They basically had one of their correspondents in a tent surrounded by 35 hi def cameras and they projected her image onto their feed. Not a real hologram as they only added her image into their feed instead of projecting her image in 3d but it was still cool looking.

I liked it just because it's a hologram, and I think it's cool to have a hologram for the sake of having one.

My sister hates it because it's cheesy and gimmicky.

Everything is gimmicky when it is first introduced.

CNN wins. Their web site is the best, by far, too.

I personally hated the holograms. It was silly and looked like shit. And I swear, everyone who was a hologram mentioned star wars. :P

Can I fuck it? No? Don't care.

How can we harness this technology for porn? That (as always) is where the money is. 3d hologram porn = win

How did they do it? It's pretty cool. Grainy and crappy looking? Yeah, but will one day it be like the dude on Voyager?

the grainy=shit was probably post processing, not a real need for it other than try to look cool.

I personally thought it was dumb

From what I understood they couldn't even see it at the studio. If this is true.... that is a big fail.

The blue halo sucked. Totally made them looked like cardboard cut-outs.

Now what could have saved face is if the did some quick rendering effects and made the halo red around republican reporters and kept it blue around the democrat reporters.

It's still an interesting piece of technology IMO, probably the same kind of tech that allows those 360 degree videos where you can move the camera at any angle to look around. A step towards a hologram? Not really, but take it for what it is =) In a way, I'd probably prefer this over the usual splitscreen interviews when someone isn't in the studio. Though, it's a little fake when they can't actually see the person. Still, at least it isn't a flat splitscreen.
