The wife didn't reset her alarm clock after the time change Sat. so instead of us waking up at 6 we got up at 5 and were sitting at the polls at 5:05 before we realized the mistake. We came back home and were making some breakfast while watching the local news and they showed a polling place right up the street from ours that had 150 people in line 45 min before they even opened. We decided to head back over and go in to get close to the head of the line. were we in the first 20 and by 6am the line had grown to well over 250 people. even the poll workers, some who have been doing this for many many years said they had never seen this before.

Yea, from what I've been hearing based on various reports etc I think this is looking like a major record turnout.

It's strange though, I'd argue that the 2004 election was more important, considering we had our chance to tell the world Bush was wrong for us... not to mention the continued failed policies that existed in the first admin that didn't help our economy nor war efforts.

I'm chalking it up to the standard(if not exponential?) growth the media goes through during any 4-year-period, along with Obama's rockstar popularity.

I waited 45 minutes to vote myself; an election official mentioned that she had not seen lines like this in this precinct since she started doing elections, in 1974.

I told all you yokels I'd be right and we'd see a huge increase in voter turnout this year.

I loved doing early voting in TX. It sucks that isn't available everywhere (and by everywhere, I mean here).

Was in line at 6:30am, polls opened at 7:00am, and was out the door at 7:10am. The line when I left was about 100 people long. When I got there I was #6.

I'm so glad I voted by absentee ballot, but it makes me SO happy that there's such a huge voter turnout.

My vote was counted first, actually. :) But in California ALL votes are counted, by law.

No lines here in Charleston. I got to the polls at 11 and was out by 11:15. They didn't check ID. Poll workers said turnout was decent for this precinct, but being in a tiny blue area in a red state it wasn't record-breaking.

Polls weren't bad here but they had a lot of booths, no lines at lunch time but most of the booths had people.
Except for the State Questions voting in Massachusetts is kinda of pointless, Democrat presidential candidate always carries by a large margin, smaller elections are often uncontested ,usually at least half of them, this year it was 2/3.

Early voting here was up to 8hr lines, every day last week.

The 40min I waited to day was fine.

True enough, that.

I'm voting after work tonight. I know I'm voting No on #1 and Yes on #2. I still don't know what I'm going to do on #3. I keep going back and forth.

I work at a building that has a voting precinct, I'm the lucky guy that gets to go at 4:45am and open things up for the poll workers, and stick around until the secretary arrives, and then finish up after she leaves.

There were easily 100 people in line when the polls opened and by 8:30 had around 300 people gone through, with the wait time around 2 hours.

The first people arrived about 5:15 to wait in line, we'd never seen anything like that.

Early voting lines were around 3 hours long.

I got lucky, I went to vote around 9am and I was in and out within 7 minutes. But soon after I left someone I know went thanks for my heads up, and got through quickly only to see a line forming as she left.

There were also over a hundred absentee ballots, when usually there are like 4-5 tops.

I got to the poll at 9:30am. I had to do a conf call from 9:30 to 10:00 so I did that in the parking lot saw 25-50 people go in and out of the location. When I was done with my call I went inside to vote. Since I am on crutches, it took me longer to get inside the building than it did to vote. No line, no wait. I did see on the voter registration sheet that a large majority of people voted early.

Those of you who've never lived in Georgia can shut your mouth about Cynthia McKinney...

Cause you don't even know half of her crazy.

Worked overnight last night, left work at 8:55 am. Drove to get a quick bite to eat, then over to the poll around 9:30. Saw a line of at least 200 people and groaned. One of the poll workers was at the back of the line with a big map, and asked each person who went into line what precinct they were in. I went to back of line, he asked, we looked at the map, and he told me that my line was the second door (not the first).

Went to the second door... two people in front of me /dance /dance. In and out in about 10 minutes tops. Woo.

Oh like claiming we had advanced knowledge of the attacks on 9/11...but chose to let the people die?

Or that the Dept. of Defense shot over 5,000 people in the back of the head and dumped them in the bayou swamps...and she KNOWS this because of her 'insider sources'?

Her repeated racism? Her anti-semetic comments?

I think my very favorite quote about her has to be:

Quote:
"Ms. McKinney is a racist and anti-Semite of the first rank. If she were white and male, she would be David Duke." -- Peter Swartz, Professor Emeritus, Cornell University

I can only imagine that anyone who actually voted for her was woefully ignorant of who she is. A write in vote would be better (and have as much chance of winning).

little over 2 hours in MD so not too bad. As far as Cynthia McKinney is concerned, she is a racist and crazy and I question the judgment of any political party that puts her on the top of the ticket.

I just got home from voting. No line, but I did annoy the first lady I talked to because there are apparently two precincts that vote in the church in question.

I've voted in everything since 1998 and my normal wait time was around 20 minutes. I had to wait over 1.5 hours today, the girl at the polling place said there were 170 people in line waiting when I got there at 7am.

About 45 minutes here, about an hour south of Seattle at 1:00 in the afternoon. I talked to a lot of interesting people. Most of them McCain supporters, interestingly enough as it's a very blue area.

I was in and out pretty much - I voted in an area near Everett, WA(few miles away from Seattle). No lines, nada, bout 4:30 PM. Most people I've ever seen here though, 7 out of 8 of our voting booths were filled up!! Record turnout, I tell ya.
