I think Wakkagud's viewpoints broke the political compass.

If everyone posted their numbers, I would love to do a data analysis on lanys as a whole. Based on initial results it is a bit surprising just how socially left we are as a group. I would guess the greatest disparity in values is economically.

What can I say, if I had to classify myself, I'd say I'm primarily a Goldwater constitutionalist. Problem I have with this "survey" is the inability to define state's rights. Federal govt. shouldn't be funding shit outside of national defense, federal court system, and leg/exec branches.

Funny that Bupas is more aligned with the presidential candidates than any of us. Congratz to Rugen for taking mine and Fribur's most left status. Representin yo.

I hope no one is taking this too seriously. This test is a fun exercise, but I really doubt it has any validity, especially when it comes to the political candidates.

The first red flag is that almost everyone who has taken the test lies on the lower part of the graph, while almost all the presidential candidates lay in the upper-right quadrant. If we consider Lanys to be a small but representative sample of voters as a whole, then we really should be more spread out. It's odd that despite the very vocal philisophical differences between our supposed conservative and liberal advocates on this board, that none of them align with the candidates......we are all pretty much (except Bupas) out of step most of the candidates. That would seem odd, considering the complete spectrum of political viewpoints we seem to have represented on the Lanys forums.

Secondly, for any test to be considered valid, it should be predictive. All those political candidate dots don't mean squat until the candidates take the test themselves. If they take the test, and there result matches where they are predicted to fall, then the test has validity. If, for example, Hilary Clinton takes the test and her dot instead falls where Fribur's dot is, then this test has no predictive value. If she takes the test and her dot is exactly where it is currently, then that increases the strength and validity of this exam. All the candidates would have to do the same, and the more candidates that match, the more reliable this test is. If all the candidates took this test, and none of their dots are where they are suppose to be, then this test would have little real value other than entertainment.

I find it suspicious that all the candidates fall into the upper right quadrant, despite the obvious glaring disparities in their political views. It seems to want to paint candidates such as Mitt Romney and Fred Thomson as being far right of center, and yet Hilary and Biden are more central, therefore more palatable to those voters who are non-affiliated. It's almost like the Left/Libertarian label is poison, so no candidates fall there, which is odd in itself.

Again, the actual candidates would need to take the test to see where they really fall. Everything else is just speculation, including the Hitler dot. The worst kind of study is one which comes up with results first (like guessing how Hitler would answer the questions), then tries to fit the model to it. Far better is to accumulate the data first, then present a model that can explain the data.

And as others have already said, many questions were poorly worded. There was another political quiz similar to this someone posted awhile back I thought was much better (was a little longer too).

Oh yeah.. just for fun.. It says I am liberal.. but there are some issues I think liberals have all wrong.

Most of my liberal"ness" comes from my belief in the rights of individuals.

I think it does serve as a good talking point though Nek. Graphing the resulting metric based on our responses as a community is proving some accuracy in that no one doubts the extremes are where they belong.

I'm not surprised that we're showing up leaning libertarian as we are (I've read a few different times that the "Internet population" tends to lean libertarian). I'm not surprised at my own little red dot, and I'm not surprised at where the various candidates are-- it seems about right to me. The only surprise to me is seeing us as a group leaning left. The ones I expected to be furthest right, though, are-- and the ones I expected to see furthest left are certainly that as well.



My understanding of this quiz is that your stance on the rights of individuals would push you downward (toward libertarianism) rather than left.

I think most of this stuff is hard to do with any sort of accuracy.

That being said, I did answer the best I could. The results would be better with a greater variety of answers.

I am far more liberal in terms of social issues than that shows. As for econ issues, sorry folks I guess I just don't represent the lanys community standard.
