So I haven't been keeping up with games much lately, but yesterday I saw this in Best Buy and decided to try it out.

Oh my god, I'm so excited about this game! It's a perfect example of how you don't always have to innovate to have a great game. It was so nostalgic, yet so fun at the same time. It was the old 2d Super Mario Brothers that I miss so much from my childhood... I didn't want to stop! I'm 31 years old, and like a kid I ended up playing it in the Best Buy for over an hour, some of that time with my girlfriend (and btw, the multiplayer aspect of it was FUN).

I need to buy this game. The Best Buy I was at was out of stock.

Anyone else play this yet?

I've been having a lot of fun with it. Almost beat it. Spending a lot of time trying to figure out how to unlock secrets.

The multiplayer is a lot of fun, but I find myself doing much better solo. Your teammates can also mess you up and distract you.

For us, since I grew up playing super mario brothers on NES, my skill level is vastly superior to my wife's, so I find myself dragging her along level by level.

After world 1 she is at like 20 continues and I am at 2. lol...

This game is very good, but man, it sure gets hard, very fast for the newbies.

update... I did beat it in about 2 days... enjoyed the Bowser fight. Now when I get the mood I go back and find a couple more of those coins... I still have about a third of them left to collect. Some of them appear very difficult to find / get.... because I'm only playing it sporadically it will probably be a while before I get them all.

Really fun game though! Definitely worth the $50, and made me quite nostalgic.

Beat the secret world levels 1-4 so far... still have to unlock 6, 7, 8... and level 8-7...

There are lots of ways to get free lives, even early in the game. You can avoid using continues if you want...

What do you mean by "secret world levels?"

World 9.

Once you beat Bowser, you get access to it. You have to unlock each level by collecting all the star coins in each world, e.g. all World 1 star coins = access to 9-1.

oh I see! I never really looked at it. I have been collecting the coins, but I thought you wouldn't get access to all of it until you got all the coins.

In that case, I apparently have access to 9-1. It's too bad I'm not at home for the next several days to check it out.

There are a few coins in world 2 that I have really struggled to get. Then again, I haven't been playing it regularly.

I was not going to buy this game because it's a port of the DS version (well it is, but the game is still kick ass). This weekend one of my friends got it for Christmas and we played a lot of multi-player...I loved it enough to try and buy it tonight.

Try being the key word. No one has it...and I went to 4 stores at least, and called others in my area. Even Amazon.com is sold out. Restocks will be in next week so all is well. Still, I wanted to play and try to finish before the weekend. My friends and I are planning on playing a lot over the holiday etc.

Good feedback here tho. Why this game does not support Wi Fi is beyond me. I guess it would be a cool feature, but it's better to play with your friends instead. Some lazy bits from Nintendo like two Toads (insteading of using other chars like Wario etc) and no online features. Come on now lol

P.S.

Just ordered it from amazon.com for $39.99 and it should be here on Jan 6th, 2010. Good savings with no taxes and shipping

My friends and I will be playing 4 players this weekend. 2 is a lot of fun, and I'm sure 4 should be insane indeed.

honestly on four player mode, playing cooperatively is nearly impossible. you end up getting in each other's way.

Not to say that killing your fellow players isn't fun, but it does get old. ;p

Awesome game, playing with three other people for fun or seriously is great.

Late to the game as always, but today, Level 9-7 rocked my world. It doesn't help that I force myself to collect all the star coins the first time through the level - but still. Must have burned through 35 lives on that sucker.
