I like how the article states that there are over 170 million "gamers" in the United States, and yet the survey that gave these statements interviewed a whopping 552 people.

I guess 552 speak for 170,000,000 now. Gotta love surveys and statistics! You can always say whatever you want just through data manipulation.

See that is funny, I read a survey a few weeks ago that surveyed 5 people. All five are married, have children, love playing games, and are physically fit and work out at the gym. I guess 1/2 of America must be the same too!

Actually, 552 is a reasonable sample size, assuming it matched the population properly.

Well they didnt survey anyone under 19. That might skew the average age of gamers.

Looks like the 552 were from a small sample of the western part of Washington state. Hardly an accurate representation of a massive generalization of American gamers...

Now if you want to say that western Washington state gamers are around 35, depressed and overweight... that might be more intune with the survey. But as it stands, we can all just chuckle under our breaths to the "accuracy" of said survey.

You are sure working hard to refute this study. Are you 35 and overweight?

I say techincally because bmi doesnt factor in stuff like muscle mass. I'm 6' 195lbs and a big road and mountain biker with a sick love of climbing and it shows in my legs. I do have leftover EQ gut blubber thats just not going away though (I bloated to 270 when playing EQ). Only thing I play now is 360.

If people want to talk about being over weight they're welcome to come to work with me any day they like and just try to keep up.

Someone needs to take a stat class!

Just to add my info, I'm 31, and I'm certainly overweight, although not massive.

Hello, I am 38 and a recovering WoW addict. I still play some Wii games with my kids and I am on Facebook. I am 6'4" and around 250#. I have a muscular build but the BMI calls me fat.

The majority of America is over 35 and overweight regardless of what hobby you focus on. I blame it on butter and chocolate being so damn good.
