I have mine laying down horizontal because it fits in my TV stand. However I am concerned about the whole overheating thing and my console breaking down. I read so many conflicting reports from many users about whether you should stand it up vertically, or it doesn't matter either way.

What do you 360 owners do with your console? And does anyone have a definitive answer as to whether it matters if you lay it down or not?

PS- I do all the other right things with my console. Use air to clean it out, dust it once a week, air circulation around it, not play it for 5+ hours at a time, etc etc...

as long as it's not enclosed in carpet or in a place thats not well ventilated then it doesn't really matter. sounds like you're already taking all the precautions that a responsible person could

Horizontal, I had bad problems with discs becoming damaged while the 360 was vertical.

plus with the design, the hot air goes mostly out of the back... as long as you don't have it sitting on a space heater you're probably ok with horizontal, and you don't screw up your discs (i've had the same results with vertical orientation).

i have mine sitting horizontally on my dish dvr, which does not produce much heat and is well ventilated (grates on the top), and haven't had any ring issues, but mine is also a refurbed red ring

Just keep it on a 32 degree slope packed in dry ice with at least a box fan pointed on high directly at the back and you should be ok.

Just make sure you don't make any sudden moves around it or your 50 dollar disk will be ruined - NO RETURNS ON GAMES!!!
