Wow, what's up with the no backwards compatibility for PS2 on the more expensive models? That was one of the big selling points for me. For once I think I'm glad I have the older model of the PS3... (Though admittedly I don't install much on it so I think it has a smaller hard drive).

Scratch that, just one model that's more expensive. Still, 3 models with no backwards compatibility? Sony shooting themselves in the foot again, wtf.

Heh, no backwards compatibility on any current model?

Sony is fucking retarded.

The MGS 4 Bundle PS3 is available from Amazon.com and it includes backwards compatibility (although you may want to make 100% sure before spending $450).

One important thing to note with the PS3: hard drive installation is easy, any 2.5" SATA drive will work, so no reason to buy a new one for a larger drive.

Yeah my and my husband were quick pissed off when we spent the money on the 80GB to find out we bought the non backwards compatible version and we were told it was backwards compatible.

Needless to say we got our money back and still kept the PS3.

Randy, there's even an easily accessible door for the sole purpose of replacing the hard drive and built-in backup and restore functionality to save your data.

Just be sure to back up your saved game files before you switch out your old HD. Once you pull the original HD out, you can't salvage anything on it (when a new one is installed, it automatically formats and gets set up for the PS3).
