I've been a huge supporter of motion sensing controllers, but as time goes on my hopes to see it as a standard dies. Why? Because so far nothing that the Wii has offered has been revolutionary in any way. So either, motion sensing in games is a gimmick (like everyone has been saying), or developers are just not trying hard enough. Or maybe a little bit of both.
There's still the motion + add on coming out, and the Wii still has a decent amount of time to prove that motion sensing is the next step in gaming. Though, while it is unfair to compare the DS software with the Wii's due to the costs and the amount of time it takes to develop games for each gaming device, by this time in the DS's life cycle the touch screen technology had already shown to not just be a gimmick. With the Wii, there's not a single game that shows this.
Is the wii remote fun? Yes, I love it! But most of the games that have come out have not really needed the remote. They could have worked the same with a regular controller. But again, the Wii still has more than half a life cycle, we'll see what happens. I hope it is good, and it proves that motion sensing controllers can become the standard, because I love the concept.
