The FF games are obvious choices, but they've pretty much all been remade in other forms.

Other SNES favorites of mine were the Lufia and Breath of Fire series.

Why do you need suggestions when it's obvious you're just going to download all the Goodsets anyway.

I'm still trying to find a way to get custom firmware on my psp...only drawback to buying a Slim is that getting the custom FW on here isn't as easy as the fatter one...

I've got a 500mb zip file with every SNES game (including the japanese and custom versions of some games) that I plan on going through and putting my favorites on my psp once I get this homebrew shit working

khameir if you like, i can do the flash for you. i have a pandora battery and a magic memory stick. just pay for shipping. =) i did mine, my dads, and a buddy's, plus with the setup i have, it's impossible to "brick" a psp.

there are tools out there that will help you create a soft-modded (rather than actual hard mod of a battery) battery or you can google for a "Datel TOOL Battery" -- same function as a pandora battery. if you need more info pm me and i can probably help.

No mention of Earthbound for SNES? Epic fail.

Also for the NES Dragon Warrior 3 and 4 for old school RPG goodness. Dragon Warrior 1 and 2... well, I liked 2 more, but they both feel TOO dated for nostalgia purposes without enough gameplay to make up for it.

DW3 was probably the only RPG other the Ultima:exodus that I never beat on the NES as a kid....and was one of my favorites of all time. Definitely need to try that one out.

Ogre battle for the SNES also. I am almost due for my yearly replay through FF3 to remind me what real games really are but atm going through FFT on my PSP during raid wipes and the such heh.

Soulblazer was always one of my SNES favorites.

And xskycrasherx, I'll probably hit you up for flashing a battery/memory stick for me in May when Uncle Sam sends me my stimulus check.

flashing batteries are like, $25 premade from online stores.

I can send you the files to make a memory stick.

Can you run stuff like the emulators from the Tools mode that these batteries boot it into? Or do you have to actually flash it to some old/custom firmware in order to use them? Does it screw with its other abilities (regular PSP games, etc) to the point that you'd have to flash it back and forth or anything?

You can use the service battery as a regular battery but in order to run homebrew you must have a flashed PSP.

There is no downside to a flashed PSP because it will run legit games as well as homebrew stuff. You don't have to flash back and forth.

There is homebrew called "Anti-Update" that will prevent new games w/ new official PSP firmware from updating your PSP. (Say a game comes out in a couple months w/ a new Official PSP firmware, and you're running a modded PSP, and don't want it to auto-update etc)

You can run Skype, Internet Browser, radio, and connect to PCs just like a regular PSP w/ custom firmware. There is functionally no difference except you can use homebrew and play downloaded games.

No mention of golden eye yet

FFT was a great game too, well worth a few thousand replays.

I just want a playable version of the original Phantasy star game....buddy had one of those xbox's with every console game ever made on it and I was able to play it for a while. Was the first Rpg I'd played.

So you get / make a tools battery, flash it back to the original firmware, and then flash it up to a custom version of a current firmware which will then allow the use of homebrew stuff off the memory stick in addition to all the regular features? This is definitely something I'd like to try...

you get the battery, you make a memory stick (there are a lot of ez-installers out there, so its very simple) and then you boot up the PSP w/ the memory stick and go fromt here. it's very simple and foolproof. even if you mess up, your psp is "unbrickable" because you can just reflash it again. hehe!

RockNRoll Racing is not nearly as fun solo than when you play in split screen with a friend.

Anyone got a place they can recommend for buying one of the Pandora / Datel tool batteries from? I don't know anyone who has a modded one already, so I'll have to order it, and most of the sellers that google spits out seem suspect...

What are some good emulators for different systems? I have the 3.90 m33-3 firmware + 1.50 kernel addon running now, and I installed snes9xtyl 0.4.2, but it seems like most ROMs i try to run with it wont work right, and when I can get one to work, if I try to play the same one again later, it gets screwed up as well (artifacts on the screen, freezes).

nm, played with it some more and the "me' version of the snes9xtyl emulator seems to work better.

edit: i think what it was is that even though you can connect via USB from within the emulator, it really doesnt like it when you copy roms to the memory stick and then try to play them without exiting and restarting the program. Seems like its probably better to just copy ROMs over through the USB Mode option in the PSP menu.
