Well this is my first Guitar Hero 3 game and I think it kicks ass. It's really easy to pick up the guitar and get going and since all the songs are my generation (or I know them) it's easy to keep up and run along with.

I don't have any experience with the other games, but has anyone played this release and compared it?

How is the gameplay on the Wii version? Does it use motion pretty well and stuff? I'm thinking about buying this game soon.

yeah im a bit interested in the wii version but as far as im concerned i think the 360 is superior since it features downloadable content and hd graphics. i will def. try the wii version though.

You tilt the controller up for star power, it's very easy and handy...there is also a big minus button on the guitar to press if you don't feel like tilting.

When you miss a note it comes from the wii remote inside the guitar, which seems nice. I haven't tried it without this turned on but to me it seems good, the music dims and you hear the twang and small feedback rumble.

It rumbles another time, can't really remember when but it's easily noticed.

I'm really enjoying the gameplay on easy, since I'm noob. Seems like it would be fun on hard though.

Also, so far battery life isn't really affected on the remote much since the pointer isn't being used, which is a huge plus.

From someone who has played all three GH's up to this point, here's some advice:

1) if you have hair, and like it, don't go past hard.
2) if you like the song "Holiday in Cambodia" and want to continue to like it, don't ever try it on expert.
3) if you have a bad temper, keep the wireless controller away from rooms with important breakable objects.

enjoy

Holiday in Cambodia isn't in the new one. It's all different songs. I was disappointed that there weren't more Metallica songs in it (there's only one, "One") as that was my favorite band in the late 80s, but that said there's a lot of good stuff in here.

I spent several hours playing the Wii version on Sunday; this is the first Guitar Hero I've ever played so I can't compare it to the older games.

I find it to be a blast! The songs really ramp up at the Hard difficulty; I beat the Easy pretty quick, and the Medium (aside from the last battle mode) a few play hours later. The hard, however, I'm going to have to slow it down in practice mode to get it going. According to some reviews I've seen, this Guitar Hero gets more difficult than the old ones, but those of you that have played the older ones will have to comment on that.

I think it works great on the Wii! I played so long my left hand hurts like hell, heh.

Here's where I'm coming from:

My wife is about 1,000,000 times better than I am, so we bypass Easy, Medium and Hard altogether. If you played GH from the first one, you know how the game works. If you've gotten through Bark at the Moon on Expert, Freebird on Expert, and Play with Me on Expert, you really can't go back to hard, because there are simply notes that you know are there, but don't have to play. My wife was in a tournament this Saturday and couldn't do better than 80% on a second tier song because they set the difficulty on hard. Had it been expert, she'd have 100%'ed it easily.

The game is infinitely harder than the other three. The 6th tier on this one would have probably been the last tier on the other three, then there are tiers 7 and 8.

I cannot fathom how *anyone* can get through Raining Blood on expert. Ever. Metallica is easy up to 80%, then it goes overboard. For someone who can play Eric Johnson on a real guitar, playing it here on expert is just nuts.

My wife is despondent that she'll never see Devil Went Down to Georgia. She's finished everything but Slayer.

I was just about to post about Raining Blood, yeah, I'm on easy but I have been doing 96%+ on every song I've played and I just now got an 82% on that piece of shit. Crazy crazy stuff.

Having never played any Guitar Hero before, Raining Blood was the first one (on easy) that I had to practice in the training room for a few minutes before I got it right. Interestingly, by the time I got to it on medium, I had no problem with it and got through it on the first try.

I'm now starting to work through this game on hard; it's much much more difficult for me-- I can see that I'm going to have to take it slowly for a while.

Learning the Blue fret is annoying. I'm really worried about that Orange one though.

Also, some guy saw I went Easy online and decided to go Hard to try and milk points off an easy song, so I picked Raining Blood and owned his face haha.

Also, Through the Fire and the Flames is a great tie breaker. I had some guy pull that on me, and I'd only played it during the ending...and I beat his ass by like 50,000.

I bought the game last night it's lots of fun. I was doing fantastically well...until I tried to use the whammy bar, and completely fucked up the whole strumming thing. I'm also stunned that even when I completely fuck up songs on easy I still get "YOU ROCK" messages, and scores in the high 80% range. My left hand is crippled, I imagine this is what it would feel like if I were a boy who was left handed who'd just discovered his penis.

Got past Holiday. Working on Tier 6. I see Cherub Rock as 100%able.

My wife beat Slayer on expert and is doing the guitar battle vs the devil. He keeps 'lefty flipping' her and she hasn't been made aware that she has a left hand yet...

Guitar Hero Rocks the 80s has Police Truck as well. My favorite tune of theirs by far is A Growing Boy Needs His Lunch, but Nazi Punks Fuck Off would make a good song on Expert.

My wii won't stay connected for some reason. I bought the dongle, but it's not working with my new computer, (I suspect new computer has USB connector problems) and I suspect the wi-fi problem is due to my shitty Verizon router. Gonna try to fix that when I can, but until then I'm mostly offline with it. :( I was able to do the wii update but haven't been able to connect via the GuitarHero menu yet.

The dongles are notoriously fucking irritating to deal with, from when they first released them for the DS.
