Here's hoping it comes out for the Wii since that's all I own. And all I plan to own for a while. :(

I could be excited about this if it offered any new type of gameplay what so ever from the standard capcom overpowered combo fireball blasts of death fests. Fighting games just aren't all that much fun anymore...played out is an understatement.

Definitely a catch 22 in that the best fighting games are the most simple which then leaves them very little room to be creative.

I don't know, I can remember many many many more memorable moments in Mortal Kombat 2 than I can in say Street Fighter Alpha, and I've pumped an equal amount of quarters in each.

It's not just nostalgia if you can find a community for it. My brother knows all the Tekken players in our area. Serious ones that travel to go to tournaments, and just random players who gather together to hold their own tournaments. They're all pretty much waiting on Tekken 6 to come out though.

Arcades still exist? Hehe, I'm not being a smartass here either. I've just not seen an arcade in a mall or otherwise in a long, long time and even then the games they had were tired out old ones.

utah doesn't have successful arcades. I looked and found none.

WA has an oddity of an arcade owner who has 6 locations located throughout Kitsap, Pierce and King County. He does cater to bemani and driving games though. Aside from this individual I believe roxor games debuted ITG, ITG2 and the PIU-ITG hybrid all in WA. I'm not even counting the Gameworks in seattle.

CA had a few good arcades when I visited there but the prime one was in LA. San Diego had quite a few arcades but none compared to Super Arcade.

Portland's Lloyd Center is a Tilt, who knows how much longer it will stay in business.

All in all, you have to live near a populated large city to find decent arcades or have a hardcore arcade fanatic running the show.

Vancouver had a really super nice arcade when I went, newest drummania and guitarfreaks, 4 player mario, melty blood act cadenza japanese style cabinet, taiko drums, etc.

There's a pretty big arcade in Indianapolis at the top of the Circle Center Mall. It has been there a long time now, so I suppose it's doing pretty well.

I just hope SF4 is in 3d instead of 2d. I don't want to see daigo umehara dominating this one.

I just have a bad feeling that its going to be Street Fighter Vs Capcom Vs Marvel Vs The Imperial Senate Vs GLAAD Vs Green Peace like the last 5 - 6 games.

you guys are pretty gross.

It's Marvel versus Capcom or X-men versus Street fighter or Marvel Super Heroes versus Street Fighter. Capcom makes SF so why would they versus themselves?

Storm/Sent/Cyclops ftw.

I could swear I saw a "capcom vs street fighter" that just added a bunch of other capcom characters.

The best fighting game I ever played was Bushido Blade 2.

Button mashers were always lame to me.

I have gained 1 point in Thread Necromancy...

Anyway, am I the only one whose planning on picking this up? I think it looks great and the reviews thus far have been very positive.

Yea I'll be picking it up on the 17th, looks really awesome =) Plus it'll give me a fighter to play besides Virtua Fighter 5. Soul Calibur 4 was the essence of button masher. SF4 is a little button mashy, but not nearly as bad as SC4 IMO.

VF5 will likely still take the cake for skill requirement, but SF4 should be a lot of fun. Also WTB VF5 R on the consoles =/

Definitely a little button mashy but over the last few years I've watched the development of the game and it really has turned out far better then I initially expected (see my previous old jokes above).

Plus, Ken/Ryu's Master is playable (Gouken) and he does 1 handed fireballs. 1 HANDED FIREBALLS!!!

I have played it and it's pretty fun, good throwback to the old days while throwing in some awesome sound and graphics updates. I wish they'd do more remakes of the old games or new games, using the same platformer style w/ updated graphics.

I have it pre-ordered on the PS3. The system has a much better D-pad than the 360. Cant wait to play it online against my Guildmates :)

Guide to unlocking Akuma, Gouken and Seth...

Settings: To do this the easy way you need to set the difficulty to Easiest, Set the number of Round to 1, and Time as Infinite. Secondly, you must unlock all hidden characters before attempting to unlock Akuma/Gouken.

Beat the game with the following characters to unlock a hidden character
C Viper - Cammy
Abel - Fei Long
Ryu - Sakura
Sakura - Dan
Chun Li - Gen
Rose - M Bison

After above characters, you are now ready.

Akuma:
Do not use any continues (reason why doing it on Easiest is the best)
Complete 2 Rounds with Perfect Victories
Complete 2 Rounds with Ultra Combo Finishes
Defeat remaining opponents.
After your fight with Seth (the last boss) you should have a slash appear in the middle of the screen, indicating that you've got 1 more fight left. This will be against Akuma. Defeat him and unlock him.

Gouken:
Beat the game on any mode with Akuma FIRST. After doing so, you may proceed with any character you like.
Do not use any continues
Complete 2 Rounds with Perfect Victories
Complete 3 Rounds with Ultra Combo Finishes
Defeat remaining opponents.
After your fight with Seth you should have a slash appear yet again to indicate that you've another fight to deal with. The fight takes place at the same temple as the fight with Akuma so don't be confused if you get a sense of deja vu. Fight and defeat Gouken to unlock.

Unlocking Seth - Beat the game with everyone, go figure.

*Note: The victory conditions don't have to actually be in order per say, you need to at least have them completed in one way or another before you reach Seth. On Akuma, I followed the formula exactly but on Gouken I did 2 perfects then a regular victory (was too slow to pull off an Ultra) and 3 Ultra Combo Finishes after and still managed to get him.

Realistically, this took me about 2 hours all together. In the end though, you get the full roster to play with online.

I LOVE this game!!! Who dares challenge me here?!? Btw, we should list which version everyone has, and set some times to play games this weekend!

PS3 version here because of the better default controller for fighters.

I like what I've played of it, though lately I've been a little too busy with Star Ocean. I think it didn't quite meet my fullest expectations, but some of that I suppose from seeing nothing but 90/100 reviews.

Figured we needed a new post in here somewhere, sooo... /bump!! New Championship mode is interesting, though I would've preferred to see some visual representation or something like a tournament bracket... playing 1 person per match is kinda meh, and doesn't feel realistic. Would've rocked if they had an actual 8-person match where you could play tournament-style.

Either way, still getting a good chunk of fun out of this game. I've been able to get some of Akuma's combos down fairly well, though I'm far from any level of awesome. Some of the combos mixing up light and medium hits are fun to pull off in an online fight.

game will really be worth getting good at when they add a lobby system akin to hd remix, so you can play against the same guys a couple of times, as opposed to now, where at peak hours you are unlikely to get anyone you recognize

I didn't play remix but I think I get the idea of the lobby system. Sounds like that would be preferable, but so long as you can still play random games against random people. The latter appeals to me sometimes just because I enjoy seeing the diversity of play some people use. Though I will admit, I hate losing to someone knowing I can adapt and beat them if I had a second shot then never playing again.
