"At E3 2007, Reggie Fils-Aime introduced Mario Kart Wii with the ambiguous comment that more racers equals more fun, teasing that we'd have to wait to find out more details.

Nintendo's Japanese press conference may have solved that mystery this week, as CEO Satoru Iwata said that the online competition in Mario Kart Wii will be bigger than the DS incarnation by allowing 12 online racers to compete, and hinting at a more streamlined matchmaking process -- no friend codes, please!"

Looks like Mario Kart Wii might not have friend codes and will support 12 players online. Not bad.

12 players will = lagfest, unless they have dedicated servers for this.

I dont know. The DS version runs smooth as silk and its a handheld. Yeah, it only supports 4 players, but still a great online game. Thinking of, I need to get back into it soon. I hope the Wii version wont have lag, because this will be a huge title for the system. And, the game will feature Motorcycles this time around. Check out the video below.

Oh come on, no friend codes? That can't be true... That would be like Nintendo doing things right and that's not likely. Besides, how will they protect the children now?

I'll try not to get too excited about the idea of no friend codes, because I'm afraid they'll just come up with something as lame. =\

But anyway, with our without friend codes I can't wait for this game! The DS version was a blast to play online. I hope they will not leave battle mode out of online either, if they include that this game will be pimp. =D

And yeah, expect a release of 2012, right at the exact same day where the Maya calendar stops working and the earth blows up.

Spring 2008 is the target release date. I'm pretty sure it will be released before June of 2008
