So...I'm curious. I've got access to an 80 druid and an 80 mage that are both on separate accounts (from co-workers that quit the game about 8 months ago and have decided they aren't ever returning). They've offered both toons to me. I have no desire to have 3 accounts open, but was under the impression that you couldn't transfer characters between accounts.

Reading the FAQ today, I noticed:

Quote:
Account Restrictions:

- Transfers between accounts can be done only if you are the registered user on both accounts. (We do not support the transfer of characters between friends, guild mates, or family members.)

So does this mean I take their account, change all the billing info, and THEN I can transfer the characters? Or is it the case that you can't change the primary user info that registered the account at all? Anyone done this?

it means the accounts have to both be in YOUR name, or last name at least.

right, but can you change that information on someone's account if they give it to you? or is it set in stone from the time the account is set up?

I've actually transferred characters between accounts even when the names/info weren't the same and Blizzard didn't care.

But that doesn't guarantee they won't care when you do it, just sayin'.

Hmm. I guess I'll give it a shot and see what happens. Can't hurt to try, I guess.

There is also the chance of a yank back. If the original owner recovers their account using their credit card. Very unlikely, but possible.

If you merge the accounts all under one battle.net account, they for all intents and purposes take the information you entered on the Battle.Net account's creation.

So if you have a Battle.Net Account in your name, merge your real account to it - then merge the extra accounts under it, you can transfer the characters back and forth across the accounts as you like.

(I have 6 accounts like this, all merged under one Battle.Net account and all characters transfered to one sub-account, while the extra are inactive)

you can have multiple WoW accounts under one B-Net account? I thought it was a one to one ratio.

If you can this might answer my question on how to transfer my toons to a co-worker that still plays.

They used to require you to know the answer to the accounts "secret question", but it sounds like maybe they've streamlined that.
