I've gotten my hands on Calamity's Grasp and find that my offhand is a bit too slow for the combat builds I'm considering - I'm incredibly tired of HfB. What offhand would you rogues suggest? I'm considering Webbed Death for a dagger, but curious if there's a sword that outperforms it.

My armory is below.

Bravo, I applaud you. I really can't understand why people even care about incrementally improving their dps in this expansion since you're guaranteed to win the encounter regardless. But cheers to you for still giving a shit.

Because it's fun for some people to see how high they can get on numbers, and because 4-5k dps is required for 10-man Sarth. Recommended for 25-man, though I've seen plenty lower. Doing all of those littles things to make sure that your dps is absolutely the best it can be - perfecting rotations, making sure you have every top-slot piece, talents, glyphs, proper gems/enchants/ratings - and then seeing the results in action can be quite satisfying. It's something that we're likely to see more of come Ulduar boss hardmodes.

If you don't like it, more power to you, and play as you see fit. But to pretend there is no fun factor involved for those who do find it fun is as silly as hardcores laughing at casuals. Both sides have their fun, or they likely wouldn't play.

4-5k dps "required" for 10 man sarth?

Maybe with 3 drakes....

Previously, there were two motives for incremental improvements.

1. You might need it to get past a certain boss or encounter.
2. It provided enjoyment to see yourself improve.

Right now, number 2 is the only reason. Improvement for the sake of improvement. Whatever floats your boat.

My first post wasn't a negative one. I genuinely applaud Syuni or whatever his/her name is for wanting to improve in an environment that genuinely doesn't need it. I lost the drive long ago.

Sorry, meant for 3 drakes obviously =) That's the only reason I even zone into the place anymore, so it sorta comes out as just "Doing Sarth".

2 drakes is laughable, so pop that down to like 1-2k dps per person.

And again Joxur, the first condition applies quite nicely for 3 drakes.

And yes, I absolutely agree with "whatever floats your boat". I could just as easily declare that your killing bosses for the sake of bosses is as arbitrary as my improvement for the sake of improvement. Silly argument.

I'd also throw in that having the best possible dps - as well as the best possible gear for tanking, healing in general - is quite beneficial for things like the Undying and Immortal achievements(3 min Patch isn't too bad really, so I won't include it), as well as a few of the other Naxx achievements. Fully incrementing every stat is not as necessary there for achievements as it is for 3D, but it's definitely helpful.

Even something like the "Shocking" achievement... which by itself doesn't have anything specifically to do with dps... can be helped with incremental improvements in such a way that there is less time and room for error in a shorter fight.

Great! Glad to see you all here. So, about that offhand...

(We missed Patch by 0.527 seconds last night. Oh well, next week!)

CG/WD is the best combo you can get until the patch.

Edit: In fact, I see you are using a SR offhand, there might be a couple faster but less dps daggers which might give you more dps than that, but you'd have to run it through the spreadsheet.

Webbed Death is the best OH to get. Go with the CQC build. Don't waste time trying an OH Sword. Even when 3.1 hits, the CQC build will probably be better than Combat/Swords.

well when 3.1 hits mix / match combat is gone anyway, besides, Mutilate is big win since poisons and shit were finally fixed.

Oh, and WD in offhand > *

I'm not sure, but I think Webbed Death is the best?
