K, more newbishness, whee!

What are the effective 'caps' for a rogue? I'm most interested in AP, Crit, Hit, Dodge, and Parry, as well as whether STR and AGI give benefits once those derived caps have been met.

Thank You, O Lanys Mindtrust.

No cap for any of em other than hit, and that's like 360. Don't ever bother with STR, just stick to AGI.

edit: if you mean what should your strive for, I'd say get at least 280 hit (but more if you can) by the time you start raiding. I have no idea if this will change in the expansion, however.

Thanks, Neesha. Any suggestions where I can find good Leather drops while I XP? ZF seems to be a platefest (and I'm finally done with its quests) - is ST any better?

Honestly, I have no idea what I was using at that level. I assume you're around level 45-50 now? I'd check on crafted gear and not really worry about much else.

You may want to play around with the WOWHead search tool. Here's a search that may help you:

Yeah, I'm level 50 (armory link on sig above) and finding a lot of interesting people in Blasted Lands, Blackrock, and elsewhere who want to eat my face.

It sounds like you've been running the instances as you go. I'd definitely hit up Maraudon and Sunken Temple at least once for all the quests. Blackrock Depths is a good one to do a full clear of one time to complete all the quests. Any drops you happen to get in your one clear is just gravy.

You can pick up a weapon upgrade for your main hand: Thrash Blade from this Maraudon quest. There's also a couple random slot upgrades in both those zones. You can get boots and a nice ring and cloak from Mara and bracers from ST in addition to the quest experience. There's also several upgrades for you in Blackrock Depths.

I wouldn't worry about trying to get a specific instance drop, though. The only drop from old world instances that you'll use passed the first zone in outlands would be the Hand of Justice trinket from BRD. Even that you don't miss much by not having it and it's such a pain in the ass to get.

The Thrash Blade is pretty awesome (procs an extra attack). HoJ is nice as well, but you're better off getting a lvl 70 to help you farm it than to try to get it the "normal" way.

if you want to know about dungeon drops, there's always www.wow-loot.com

at the top of each class page there's a view pre-expansion list button for the original release stuff

If you're going for pure speed in levelling (and you should since the expac is so soon), you should skip all of those instances. You don't need the gear or the experience, honestly.

This is true. I've got 2 months for 70. I can do 20 levels in that time with little to no rushing. So, why not pick up some toys along the way, max out my lockpicking, and so forth? Just got Exalted with Exodar (Yay Elekk!), only alliance faction left is Gnomeregan.

Just using the footlockers you can get lockpicking done for the most part in less then a day.

If you're good about pickpocketing everything (Macros are good here) you'll often have your lockpicking mostly leveled up without really even working on it anyway!

I've never seen a skillup when using pickpocket. I'm currently floating about ST working on those footlockers now. I need to invest in a gnomish dive helmet. =)

You don't get the skillup from the pickpocket, you get it from opening the junkboxes you get from the pickpocket.

I see what you're saying. I had done this in Uldaman but the junkboxes were grey, and I assumed that they would remain so. I'll keep trying that.

Yah, if you just macro all your openers to something like:

/cast Pick Pocket
/cast Cheap Shot

You'll usually end up with a backpack full of junkboxes before you know it. =)

Not to mention that later on mobs can start giving up blue quality gems, potions, and other goodies on their pickpocket loot table. There's even an epic throwing weapon that only comes from pickpocketing.

Is there a macro command to auto loot the resulting window from pp?

Good question.

In interface options if you turn on auto-loot it will work for the pickpocket window as well.

If you don't want auto-loot on all the time, I'm *fairly* sure that there's a script command that will turn auto-loot on and off, but I can't think of it off the top of my head.

So the macro would look something like:

/script turnAutoLootOn
/cast Pick Pocket
/cast Cheap Shot
/script turnAutoLootOff

But I'd have to find the real script command.

In any case, turning auto-loot on in interface options is usually the easier way. ;)

You can go to Gnomer and jump down to kill the Sludge boss (Viscious Fallout or whatever he is called). He drops a staff that lets you breath under water. As for auto-loot, you can turn on an option in your UI, but just don't forget to turn it off later, in the event that you raid or something where it's on FFA loot. Or you can just get used to holding down <SHIFT> when you loot, that will loot everything automatically.

I suppose I can shift out of autoloot, as well, when not pickpocketing. I can't equip a staff, so I'm gonna just tinker myself a helm.

And won't matter in the expansion anyway...everyone is getting 3 min breath (undead go to 9 min).

Seems that putting my PickPocket before my attacks (like Garrotte or Cheap Shot) doesn't loot quickly enough before the attack triggers, thus closing the window and losing the junkbox. Is there a pause command?

That's what the auto loot is for, you just have to get in the habit of shift looting for everything else.

I've got Autoloot turned on. Apparently the commands are sending too quickly for the server to finish looting. I've added /stopcasting and that seems to help in some cases. I'll look for other solutions.

Seems like it would be easier to just spend the 20 mins at the various spots with lockerboxes and picking them for skillups.

It probably would be, but I imagine if I get the macro perfected that I will be able to maintain my LP skills from now on.

/stopcasting is the fix. Went from 180 to 260 in about an hour last night, and made some good quest XP at the same time.

It might be, but don't discount the amount of money you can make via pickpocketing while leveling up. That and it's a great source of potions.

No, you wouldn't want to go "pickpocket farming" or anything, but it's just extra loot while doing things you'd be doing anyway.

I never macro pickpocket either. I just always pickpocket. You get free poison ingredients too and some money. Not alot but atleast half of my rogues money comes from picking pockets. And I like all the sup heal pots I get too. :santa:
