I am raiding beast, so I will not comment on marks/survival trees other than to add some suggestion here or there, and that they are signifigantly more difficult to play and manage. At least from my experience. Big numbers are fun, but the mana drain is nasty. I prefer the superior mana conservation of Beast over either of those trees.
These opinions are from a beast mastery point of view.
Really both are critical to being able to perform at a top level as a hunter. Attack power not only benifits you, but your pets damage as well. Crit of course for big damage, as well as keeping the Kill Command going.
Unbuffed im only at 20% crit. I do not have a khorium scope on my gun yet, nor the good shoulder enchant. This will change soon however. I find with 23% to 25% crit, I can do just fine. More comes with better gear of course.
I would suggest you drop jewelcrafting and mining like a bad habit. Take up Leatherworking. The Ebon Netherscale armor is Tier 5 equivalent, if not a touch better in some areas, especially the 3 piece set bonus. You do not need much +hit to cap as a hunter, "9 to 10 percent" so this awesome armor fills that role nicely. Do not just make 1 or 2 pieces. Get all 3. They will go a very long way. Remember also, you do not have to socket armor with its listed gem color. A piece of armor with a red, blue and yellow slot can be socketed with 3 +16 attack power red gems for example.
Your current ranged weapon is way too fast. Do not drop below a 2.7 else you start clipping shots in your rotation. "you do use a shot rotation do you not?" I also do not rely on a shot macro. I do them all by hand. Some people swear by the macro. I personally think its garbage. Best pre kara weapon to get would be a Valanos' Longbow or the exaulted rifle from Honor Hold. Do not bother with a Don Santos, you'll upgrade better in kara eventually. The Crossbow, Gun or Bow all are three fine choices.
Also, you may consider staying with a 4 piece bonus to Beast Lord armor for a while. It's pretty powerful. Use the legs, helm, gloves and sholders. Hunter tier 4 is NOT that impressive other than for looks, and you will get your share of it eventually because it is even less of an upgrade to most classes you'll be competing against on most pieces.
Also, if you are staying marks, get 2 Stelaras axes from Mechanar and put 30 int enchants on them. You get more bang for your buck that way over 15 agi to each.
Honestly with your current loadout I would strongly consider going beast mastery. You just do not have the gear to make marks or survival work properly. Marks is all about mana regen and a huge mana pool to keep a long shot rotation going in conjunction with super crits.
Get yourself a scorpid from Shadowmoon Valey. They are the current flavor of the month. They come with max rank fire resist and last rank of scorpid poison. Train him up with Cobra Reflexes, Avoidance and the max rank of Stamina you can afford. Get Claw if you want. You will not use it much except on poison immune mobs.
At the start of a boss fight, buff yourself to the tits and hit beastial wrath and any attack power trinkets you have. Immediatly send in pet.
Keep Claw turned off. This is important. Your pet will need all of its focus to constantly reapply scorpid poison. At the 5th application of scorpid poison, nut your shorts at the astronomically huge warlockish dot tick numbers your pet is pulling off. At last test, this also counted as a poison for sub rogues and their mutilate.
This is subject to future nerf, as people are crying about it in PvP. And as we all know, PvP dictates the direction of PvE now. Fortunatly you can be a badass with just about any pet of your chosing. I used a warpstalker because they become huge under beastial wrath and the shit eating grin excites the ladies. I also have used a ravager, bird, cat, ape, donkey and a squirrel. It doesn't really matter.
That is my input anyway. It is by no means law as a good hunter will shine reguardles of spec.
