Is there some fucking trick to this thing I am unaware of? I did all of the port switching, etc, that they told me to, even did all of the other little tricks on their website, and still the damn thing won't work for me 75% of the time.

Anyone have this nsimilar issue? Because I really hate that fucking downloader. I wish to shit they'd just put the match up on a normal mirror site and let everyone DL from there instead of waiting 30 minutes on fileplanet or waiting 4 days for Filefront to get the fucking thing.

So, if anyone knows why the hell it still won;'t work for me, or if you know a faster site than fileplanet (I'm not a subscriber) that reliably has the patches, let me know?

Make sure the ports are forwarded *correctly*

http://www.portforward.com

Make sure it's allowed in the Windows Firewall and whatever other firewalls you use.

I had a bunch of issues, but when I started using a static IP for my port forwarding everything ran smooth afterwards. (I learned how to do it on the website I linked)

Today's downloader in particular was screwed up - I believe the error is on their end.

There are several mirrors floating around. If you can't find any, you can just disable p2p transfer in the settings and it will default to HTTP. This is much slower, however.

See man, I did do all of that, and told windows firewall Blizzard's downloader is always to be allowed through, as well as the firewall on my router.

Yet, Blizzard's downloader STILL fucks up.

I just hate that goddamn thing.

Easist way to download patchs is to extract the torrent and use your own Bit Torrent client. Makes shit alot faster.

Note: Not once did I ever blame blizzard.

Thought you'd like to know that.

I'm wondering how it could still be me, but, thanks for letting me know the problem is on my end. I already knew it, but your post made me realize it must be true.

They upload their patches to filefront, which I use every time.

Got a friend who worked for Blizzard from the early days of warcraft (1) right up until early in the WoW beta. Supposedly that patcher was only supposed to be temporary for the beta, because Blizz knew how shitty it was. Guess they decided to go live with it anyway.

Yes hehe, all through beta people were screaming about the patcher, and blizz did indeed say that it was only a temporary thing for beta, and a new and easy to use and functional downloader would be in place.

Rrrright. lol.

The only problems I've had w/it, luckily, was when I had the older version of norton firewall. I'd have to completely shut it of to get the download to go. These days really don't have a problem with it other than that it is really slow at times.
