I am thinking of finally converting to the darkside (WoW) from EQ. I was told that WoW had a free trial going on, like 10 days free. Is there a site that will send you the patcher CD so I can just download the WoW patcher? Or do I have to use the download site and wait for hours that would take seconds to load up on a CD?

You can borrow the retail CD's from someone and just use the trial key during installation.

Welp after purchasing the trial disc yesterday, and played it for umm 7 hours.....all I can say is DAMMIT!!!! I am totally addicted to MMORPG's again, just one bad thing:

I FEEL LIKE A NEWB

Was running through Crossroads with my uber lvl 10 trial shammy, and saw this bird flying with a person on it. I swear, I thought it was a mount.

But yeah long story short enough, just purchased the full version of WoW this morning. Gah!! lol

The bird was a Griffon, which Alliance characters ride to different destinations once you open up "flight paths" to those spots.

edit: Horde ride bats.

And wyverns.

Alliance get hippogryphs and gryphons. And yes, this game is great to get started on. Its so easy that you get sucked in pretty fast. :p Oh, and shaman are fun too, good luck finding the path to the fire shrine without help though. It sucks serious ass.

I found that path with no problem for the fire totem. Right now my shaman is lvl 24. Can't believe my spells cost me near 3 gold. At my lvl 3 Gold is hard to get. Thank god I got my skinning to 209 and my Leathermaking at 161 right now.

Hell, I used the ah for gear all the time and still got my mount at 43 for my first character. Its so easy to raise cash in this game. Just get a gathering profession, or even two if you prefer, and pursue it while playing normally. Every time your bags fill, return to the ah and put your stacks up for auction then log in the next day and pick up your cash at the mailbox.

THink I screwed myself to this day with my Skills. I stopped enchating altogether at 33, and started using the DE's to make myself money for a mount at 40. I didn;t go back to enchanting til 60, and when your constantly seeing high repair bills, and just stocking up for that alone, you really don;t have the cash over all to raise a skill. Might be why nmy 'Chanting is STILL a 285 after mor than a year(of mostly ignoring it even after 60)

Still I did get my mount at 40 on the nose, and I do have a 300 in FA, Cooking, and Tailoring. (Fishing can suck the sweat off a dead man's balls for all I care)

Previous post advice is quite sound as I understand it though. Double up on gatherer skills, and just take that small amount of "extra attention" time to watch your surroundings. and you can make a load of cash.

production tradeskills before 40 = lose.

skinning/herbalism or skinning/mining is how I made money for all of my alts. They were all self sufficient after a 5g+4 runecloth bag starting gift.

What Van said. Making items is a big source of losing money barring a couple of items, and even then, you are trying to skill up and there is no way the 30 or so hillmans cloaks you made before it turned green will sell in less than several weeks time on the auction house. Its just not worth it. Yeah I know, the WoW guide talks big about making your own gear, and technically its true, you can, but its far cheaper in the long run to just buy some off the ah instead. Skinning is the easiest tradeskill, but its probably the lowest return per stack overall, on thrall for example, 20 medium leather is selling for 20 silver or less. I never had much luck with mining personally. I got to tin then couldnt ever find any of it to mine so i got stuck. Herbalism is good, once you learn which herbs sell, and which dont so you can avoid wasting bag space.

Try http://www.direct2drive.com That's where I got my copy. I believe they're cheaper than Wal Mart and there's no tax.
