It was kinda fun for a minute, like ten years ago? All I hear about it these days is that it's made the progression servers completely unplayable for people who don't cheat.

Don't. Seriously. If you don't have the skills to compile it yourself, unless you have a VERY reliable source for getting a precompiled version, you need to avoid it. It's just simply not a run and gun solution. It requires some fairly advanced knowledge of the client to use w/o getting yourself banned or outing yourself to the populace.

In closing, the first rule of Fight Club applies here.

Probably best to just play normal EQ, these days all the features, spells, gear and mercs they give you make it practically Cheat Mode by ye ol' time standards anyways.

I am not so much looking to use it for normal play. I am looking to use something so I can get certain skills up. For example, my Divination sucks. If I could get a simple program that would let me hotkey a spell so it would cast itself over and over while I slept, then I might not get Carpeltunnel. Anything like that out there? Something that can do something like:

1 <ALT 1> (Cast Spell Gem 1)
2 Delay 10 Seconds.
3 Goto 1.

You want to run Macroquest to automate your spellcasting while sleeping. Nope, that won't get you caught or banned. You're EXACTLY the audience that the devs are looking to avoid.

That said, this is true for any app that runs unattended things. You might want to look into a software automation utility (say, from Logitech maybe) if you're looking to be a donk.

Back in the day, didn't we just bind the Sense Heading skill to one of our arrow keys so it'd trigger whenever we moved?

Yeah, but that doesn't work as well when you're dealing with spellcasting.

Yea wasn't there some sort of delay with sense heading where you couldn't perform another ability for a short time?

But yea, the Logitech G15 did wonders for me in WoW. I'll admit it, I used it to raise my weapon skills back in the day =) Nothing like waking up in the morning all maxxed out without having to faceplant yourself into a heap of boredom.

I'd support anyone in an effort to avoid doing repetitive mindless shit.

I use to use a hot key with my Ranger that would forage and track. Would attach it to my arrow keys everytime I moved it would fire. great way to raise those skills, but don't think it would work with spells.

/doability 1 ( or what ever your forage was on in the abillity section)
/pause 5 ( or ever how long you wanted it to wait)
/autoinventory
/doability 2 ( Track was minimized to not block view)

That's exactly what I was thinking when I read this too.

Unfortunately (outside the pc actually doing the casting) this issue already exists if you box and have 2 mercs up. Tank + Healer merc, people park themselves in a moderately low danger area where they get aggro but won't take too bad of a beating. Mercs do all the work. It's free (minus the plat spent on mercs) xp and something devs should've addressed a long time ago.

I have done that a few times in UP, just farming items with my T5 Merc when I am cleaning house or something.

I do not even need a healer. My merc takes agro from me.

Everything is grey, so, no EXP, but, I can park there, go away for 20 minutes, come back and look & Loot everything and see what I got for TS and Vendor loot.

I just tried this: http://www.auto-clicker.com/2011/03/auto-keyboard-automation-software-utility/

THe selection of keys you could use was limited. Trial version.

I set up a key(Backspace) and set it up on my Settings to cast Spell Gem 1. The program worked as far as hitting the key itself(I had a chat box open with my coursor in it to see it move.) but, when I switched to EQ, it did not activate my spell gem. I did not have my coursor in any chat box. Doing the key by hand worked, so, going to look for something else to try.
