Post subject:  Fippy's Revenge

I found this while poking around on some forums. Damn, Fippy has some issues!

Raid Expedition: Fippy's Revenge

Quote:
This raid expedition begins with Algera Chindlebolt at location -675, 265, 52 in Brell's Rest (by the zone-in from The Hole). In order to request this raid, you must first have completed Berrina's three tasks as well as the "Dont Fear the Destroyer" group mission from Algera.

You say, 'Hail, Algera Chindlebolt'

Algera Chindlebolt says 'Today is a sad day for certain, friend. A great [threat] appears to have become reality. Despite our efforts, The Destroyer has come, though I still know not in what form. Gnolls everywhere in Brell's realm are speaking of his arrival, and the [doom] that awaits us all!'

You say, 'Doom?!'

Algera Chindlebolt says 'Gnolls are often want to boast of their ferocity, as it's how they seed themselves within the clan. But this time I fear it's different. They speak of The Destroyer in a reverent tone I've not heard before, and frankly this frightens me. Gnolls are not known for giving anyone [respect], even to the leadership of their own clan!'

You say, 'Respect?'

Algera Chindlebolt says 'Aye. . . It is most disturbing. They speak in a hushed, almost frightened yalp. Though it may mean your death, I feel we cannot avoid this Destroyer any longer. Someone must [face him], and defeat him, lest we lose control of Brell's realm entirely!'

You say, 'We'll face him!'

Algera Chindlebolt says 'I knew we could count on you! I cannot imagine the horror you'll face this day, but I bid you well and hope to see your face again someday. My guards have barred the path to where we think this Destroyer is hiding. Let me know when you're ready, and I'll show you the [way].'

You are assigned the raid expedition 'Brell's Rest - Fippy's Revenge'.

Entering the Zone

You say, 'Show me the way'

Algera Chindlebolt says 'Fight strong, with the courage of Brell in your hearts!'

You zone into an instanced version of Brell's Rest, an empty zone except for Fippy Darkpaw, who is none too happy about your presence:

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'After I am done with you, I will leave this place and dine on the flesh of Qeynos! BARK!'

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'For years I have been slain by you and your kind... now I shall return the favor!'

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'Though you strike me down a thousand times... I come back a thousand and one times!'

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'You've ruined my lands... now I'll ruin YOU!'

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'I will never give up Brell's Rest. TODAY it shall be mine!'

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'I am Fippy the Undying, the Merciless Darkpaw! Fear the coming of the Destroyer and despair!'

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'Are you still trying to win? How pathetic.'

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'You know how many times you kill Fippy? Now you know how many times Fippy kill YOU!! YIP YAP!'

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'You have trespassed long enough on Sabertooth land. Brell's Rest is MINE now, you fools!'

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'You stink of your imminent death!'

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'You die now! Why? Because Fippy kill you!'

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'The Sabertooth clan will NEVER surrender! YAP YAP!'

Fippy Darkpaw shouts 'Qeynos guards cannot save you here... Brell's Rest is MINE! BARK!!'

Timers and Emotes

Each phase (every 20% of Fippy's health) has a timer of 10 minutes (begins at the time of first aggro in the first phase and at the time of Fippy's respawn for each subsequent phase). If this timer runs out, Fippy starts hitting for a max ~75,000 and AE rampaging and flurrying about every round. You'll want to stay within this timer.

Fippy despawns every 20% health. You'll see:

Fippy vanishes as he is pulled to Norrath yet again.

Each time Fippy despawns, a wave of adds spawns and attacks. You have two minutes to kill these adds before Fippy respawns, at which point any remaining adds will attempt to run to Fippy's position and heal him.

As Fippy respawns, you'll see:

Fippy reappears in Brell's Rest as he once again dies on Norrath.

If you do not aggro Fippy within a certain amount of time (what time, exactly? it's one or two minutes), or if he goes unaggro and is left alone a certain amount of time, the event will reset. Your warning this is about to happen:

Fippy is growing in power and approaching demi-godhood as he stands unchallenged in the Plane of Underfoot.

And if it does happen, you'll see:

No longer bound by his body in Norrath, Fippy ascends to demi-god status and assumes his role as destroyer of all. You have failed.

Note also that Fippy is tethered to the northern half of the zone. If you pull him towards the zone-in or to the valleys on either side, he'll warp back to his spawnpoint with the emote:

Fippy has gated back to his home!

Quote:
Phase 1 (100%-80%): Fippy Darkpaw

Engage Fippy when ready. He is aggro (there is no trigger) and can be pulled away from his spawnpoint (keep in mind his tether and the 10-minute timer). He hits for a max ~14,000, flurries, and single-target rampages. He casts two spells:

Darkpaw's Rending: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 25000
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 4000 per tick

Howl of the Tortured: PB AE 50', Magic (-650)
1: Fear up to level 99
2: Decrease INT by 150
3: Decrease ATK by 300

Once Fippy reaches 80%, he despawns. At this point, 15x "shade of Fippy Darkpaw" spawn all around the lava area. They hit for a max ~8,000 and are unmezzable, but rootable/snareable.

They each drop a bane item for use in the next phase.

Two minutes after Fippy's despawn, he respawns again as "Fippy Darkpaw the Undying".

Quote:
Phase 2 (80%-60%): Fippy Darkpaw the Undying

Fippy Darkpaw the Undying is immune to most damage except for bane procs. He hits for a max ~20,400 (without any mitigation), flurries, single-target rampages, and occasionally AE rampages for full damage. He casts a few spells:

Pain of the Undying: PB AE 100', Unresistable (0)
1: Stun (1.00 sec)
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 10000

Undying Resolve: Self 0', Unresistable (0)
1: Increase Absorb Damage by 10000000

Vision of Death: PB AE 200', Unresistable (0)
1: Feign Death

Once he reaches 60%, he despawns. At this point, 8x "shade of Fippy Darkpaw" spawn all around the lava area. They hit for a max ~8,000 and are unmezzable, but rootable/snareable.

Two minutes after Fippy's despawn, he respawns again as "Fippy Darkpaw the Destroyer".

Quote:
Phase 3 (60%-40%): Fippy Darkpaw the Destroyer

Fippy Darkpaw the Destroyer hits for a max ~18,500, flurries, single-target rampages, and AE rampages for full damage. During this phase, he alternates between a powered-up mode and his regular state. While he's powered up, he can hit for upwards of 22,500.

Also during this phase, he warps around to random people on his hatelist, casting the spell "Shadow Strike" on them:

Shadow Strike: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 25000

Once he reaches 40%, he despawns. At this point, 8x "shade of Fippy Darkpaw" spawn all around the lava area. They hit for a max ~8,000 and are unmezzable, but rootable/snareable.

Two minutes after Fippy's despawn, he respawns again as "Fippy Darkpaw the Fabled".

Quote:
Phase 4 (40%-20%): Fippy Darkpaw the Fabled

Fippy Darkpaw the Fabled hits for an unmitigated max ~20,500, flurries, single-target rampages, and AE rampages. He casts an AE snare and a single-target charm (hits multiple people at a time):

Ruined Lands: PB AE 30', Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 5000 per tick
2: Decrease Movement by 75%

Vision of Pain: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
1: Illusion: Gnoll
2: Charm up to level 99

Part way through this phase, 4-5 sabertooth gnolls spawn and attack. They hit for a max ~8,000; are mezzable as well as rootable and snareable. "a sabertooth martyr" (which doesn't attack, but can be killed) also spawns and emotes a random target, however its purpose and effect on the event are not confirmed.

The sabertooth adds are timed, so you'll have to deal with 2-4 waves of these during this phase, depending on your DPS against Fippy.

Once Fippy Darkpaw the Fabled reaches 20%, he despawns. At this point, 8x "shade of Fippy Darkpaw" spawn all around the lava area. They hit for a max ~8,000 and are unmezzable, but rootable/snareable.

Two minutes after Fippy's despawn, he respawns again as "Fippy Darkpaw the Immortal".

Quote:
Phase 5 (20%-0%): Fippy Darkpaw the Immortal

Fippy Darkpaw the Immortal hits for an unmitigated max ~22,050, flurries, single-target rampages, and AE rampages (full damage). He does not enrage. He casts a single-target DD called "Darkpaw Vengeance":

Darkpaw Vengeance: Single Target, Unresistable (0)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 50000 to 100000 (random)

Part way through this phase, 4-5 sabertooth gnolls spawn and attack. They hit for a max ~8,000; are mezzable as well as rootable and snareable. "a sabertooth martyr" also appears during this phase.

As with the previous phase, these adds seem to be timed.

Also appearing towards the end of this phase are several shades of Fippy Darkpaw. These will not aggro on the raid. Instead, they will run to Fippy's location and attempt to heal him. This seems to be avoidable by either killing the shades or moving Fippy around.

Once Fippy Darkpaw the Immortal dies, a chest appears at his spawnpoint with loot. Sabertooth adds do not despawn.

Loot consists of 2 armor pieces (first list) + 2 items (second list) + 3 Coins of Brell (Tier 6 raid flag) + 2 Scintillating Obsidianite Runes + 2 Brilliantly Pulsating Crystallized Cosgrove Shards + 0-1 Crystallized Ball of Cosgrove Clay (Type 17 cultural armor aug):

This Fippy is a pussy compared to the First incarnation. We were one of only 20 guilds to beat him before he got smacked by the first nerf stick.

There are 20 raiding guilds in EQ?

Post subject:  Re: Fippy's Revenge

Yeah contrary to popular belief, there are still quite a few people that still play Everquest, and quite a few raiding guilds around. I know everyone loves bashing Everquest, but there is still a good amount of people that play. Granted not as much as in years past, but not enough to have one person per zone in the high play zone areas...

Underfoot, however, is way too hard for many guilds right now due to summer rosters being lower (even after the first fix). And now there is a big rumor that the paladin AOE cure heal might get fixed/nerfed/changed and if so it is going to essentially prevent all mid-tier guilds (and some who have already completed the events) to be successful unless they field like 8 paladins per raid.

Now if you want to be serious, the question should be not whether there are 20 raiding guilds in Everquest... but if there are 20 paladins left in Everquest :P

I wouldn't be terribly surprised if something like Toontown had more subs than EQ does.

Quite surprising numbers!

Look at Warhammer and Conan, wow. They peaked high and then quickly plummeted.

War's problem was that the majority of people quickly leveled and left all the areas a new player had to go through and PQ barren wastelands. New players couldn't get past the low 20's without having to solo grind and gave up.

Conan went down the day they nerfed the ToS.
