Hmm.... wizard at 62? Solo, I guess you could do Seb for gems. I know quite a few higher spots- Plane of Fire is great for gems, Plane of Growth is great for gems. I have a couple secret spots that I use- can make 7k just in coin and gems per hour in one spot, but that is for me LOL :)

Easiest way, to be honest, is just do a duo with a higher level and split the gems and coin. Can kill many more mobs in a faster time than a solo 62 can in my opinion...

Crypt of Nadox and Hates Fury....anything from the Ykesha expansion drops from 6-12p a kill. At level 62 you should be able to AE burn through light blues for some real real easy pp. Deeper into the Crypt of Nadox might see some more challenging creatures but the pp and gems are great in these two zones. I used them to level up my bard/sk team on the new server Mayong.

It was nostalgia for a day or 2, but it was ok at best for me, I went back to Eq2 ft and got in a good raiding guild, I know its been said and I can reaffirm after playing WoW, EQ2 back to WoW AoC and WAR since leaving EQ1 full time in 2004, but I think EQ2 really thru it all has held my attention and I've enjoyed the game play more than anything else.

Plus have a max lvl charcter with alot of AA already too heh

So I'll stay until something really knocks my socks off I suppose

If I for some reason went back to EQ2, what class, preferably a dps type would work pretty well? I was a fury and while it was fun, I kept hearing how no one wanted them lol..

Rofl, how funny you mentioned that Givin, they recently did replace said lead dev who happened to o idk play a Assasin, and dev chat was interestingly talking about some nerfs to the assasin class inc in upcoming game updates

30k plat would gear you up well to 80ish. Biggest hurdle would be how well you can grind exp. Guilds vary depending on what you want to do. If you want to raid 5 or 6 nights a week then its going to be more work gearing up at the high end. The current expansion gives good exp as you get void access to reach the highest end zone bu the augemt awards are something you will use for a very long time.

Now keep in mind that this is coming from the perspective of a person that has enjoyed "most" of the content EQ has put out over the years. The guild I am in does not raid full time and raiding is not mandatory but we are flowing along at a pace that suits my 3 night a week play time.

Khan can give you a better idea of what raiding with the top end guild is like as we are 4 keys short of the 60 goal to start farming the tower.

The guild Cucullin and myself are in is a fantastic guild- solid group of people/players, mostly adults w/families, laid back atmosphere. But when it comes to raiding and getting stuff done, there is a lot of members who are excellent at their class and are able to do the things necessary to be successful in game.

I do find it amazing how many crappy players there are in this game, though. I don't think that the game is getting "new blood" in, so these players should be somewhat experienced... and yet half of them are just utter bleh. And then they get all emotional when you don't want them in your group the next day- /shrug. You sucked on Wednesday, what makes me think you are going to be excellent on Thursday?

Only part time... I'm pretty sporadic in my ability to play, some weeks I can be on daily, but a full week might go by where I can't log in at all.

I'm still not of appropriate level yet, about to start to grind out some more levels, but I'm gonna need some guidance in all the progression shit I need to do to actually be useful to someone heh.

I also come with a Ranger of equal level (rl friend).

Figure in a couple of weeks I should be 80 at least... I'm around 600AA right now.

In Diligence we raid Sun @ 7:30pm ET, Mon-Thurs 8:30 ET. Usually 3hrs or less. Fun guild, not very close knit, but great players. Most have 3-5 lvl 85 toons. Not very forgiving for mistakes made by applicant or members alike. We had Tower on farm status for the last 4mos. I wanted to cut my wrists towards the end due to the monotony.

From our recruitment page...

Quote:
18k Unbuffed Mana/HP 1000+ AA's....A lot will be expected of an applicant Enchanter. Ability to control 8-16 spread out targets SOLO for several minutes is expected. As a team we hold 30-50 targets at the same time for several events. If you find that unreasonable, dont waste our time.

Trying to kill Fippy The Immortal right now. He is the first raid in UF. This is one hard fight. He makes Brekt look like a pussy. We are getting him down to 14%, but have yet to field a full raid force. We usually only have 42-48. That was enough in SoD but not enough in UF.

From diligenceguild.com

Diligence is currently seeking:

* Berserkers (1)
* Clerics (1)
* Enchanters (1)
* Necromancers (1)
* Rogues (1)
* Warriors (1-2)
* Wizards (1)

Shadowknights click here to return to top Back to Top

1. LEVEL 85
2. You must have full defensive aa's, this includes shield block, and AC aa's.
3. You better have good ac augs, we get hit a lot and we do a lot of tanking. AC > HP or Lobot, Xiang, Aezar and Splinelok will laugh at you.
4. Know how to No damage off tank.
5. You must be drunk 4/5 raids per week or you just wont understand us SD's.
6. If you think the F word is bad, dont be an SK.
7. Know when to dot and when to aggro. If its a burn fight and your full mana one of us will say something to you.
8. Due to how easy aa's are to get we'd like to see at least 1000 aa's from any SK that applies.
9. Must be willing to take orders on the fly, things change and we have to adjust, knights have a heavy role in this guild, maybe more than other guilds so being able to make changes fast is very important.
10. Full defensives are a MUST, Knowing who/what to aggro is a MUST, OFF tanking is a MUST. Dying to stupid shit IS STUPID. Dont die to ramp, dont be afraid of 90 percent rez's, must have Fearless aa's. Oh ya and max HT is very important. We have a very important role and if we need an SK, we want an SK that will continue to improve him or her self.
11. You must have all flags that are current to our progression. If your not at least void E you got a lot of work to do.

If you have any questions please ask Lobot or Xiangyuan in game.

I'm level 70 now with around 320 AA, and I would rather chew on rusty nails than continue to AA in PoF, but so far it's better exp than the other zones I've been recommended to (DSH, and Monkey Island in Buried Sea). I read somewhere that the light blue cons in The Hole are pretty good AAexp at 70, anyone have any other suggestions. Class is Shaman.

It's not a question of where you're grinding really. It's the process.

Grinding out AAs was boring as shit 6 years ago, it was boring as shit a year ago when I reactivated and I am pretty sure it's the same now. I tried both the hole and PoF last time I played as well, dual boxing enchanter and berserker with a merc each. I would alternate between the two periodically. At first I would swear the AA were faster in zone A over B, then it all just ran together into a giant blur of meh and I stopped giving a shit. Eventually I would get bored and move to the other location and repeat the process.

Are you root-rotting the guys with the flaming staffs at tables? God, I spent so many hours farming so many AA's there, back in the day...

I use a tank merc so I don't bother rooting. At C1 I get probably 10-12 AA per hour depending how hard I push.

Pretty much how it is now. I moved to The Hole and I'm getting pretty much the same exp that I was in PoF (mobs die ridiculously fast). I'll stay there for awhile until I get insanely bored with it.

At C1 my merc can go 3-5 kills before I have to toss a spiritual serenity on it. It helps that I can slow, but it easily tanks there. The only named I've seen at C1 is a Charmer of Fire, and the merc easily tanked that fight also.

I'm 75 with ~750AA now, I'm duoing in Thalassius with my friend. He's playing a ranger with a cleric merc, I just keep a mob charmed and hasted. We probably get around 8-10 AA/hr depending on how many people are hanging around. Suppose it can get a bit boring from time to time but whatever, such is EQ no? When we need a break we run over to PoP and kill some god for a free AA and lolz. :) We'll be starting the grind to 80 soonish..

Random question of the day for anyone who might be in the know...

During a nostalgic trip to Sleepers, my ranger friend picked up a wonderfully outdated Avatar procing ancient prismatic weapon. Avatar, according to Lucy, is +100atk.

Anyone explain why his attack is 2466 with Avatar up, and if he clicks it off (with the same weapon-set) and puts up Feral Form (+65atk) his atk goes up to 2553? I can't figure it out...

EDIT: Keeping the 2hb brawlstick up, he's at 2090atk with Avatar up, and if he clicks it off (not changing any other buffs) his atk is 2076, clearly not the +100 lucy etc indicates....

I would venture to guess that the outdated Avatar buff is overwriting a much better buff. I would also guess that it overwrites it because of a stacking issue.

Did he notice if any of his buffs went poof and/or was replaced with Avatar?

All buffs the same.. Is it possible a proc counts as item rather than spell stats, and there's some sort of cap on atk from items? Or something like that maybe?

My guess would be the item thing. There is a caster AA that increases the amount of mana regen that you can receive from items, so my guess is atk is probably capped similar to the way mana regen is.

Attack does have a worn cap, raised w/ enhanced aggression aa's. Strength also effects attack, as well as it's cap (planer power aa's if not yet maxed). Then there is also hero strength. Those are the natural attack mods prior to any buffs.

I think you were the last of the Mafia to retire, Gothor.

/salute
Where did you camp him out for the last time? Surefall Glade, by chance?

Do any sort of good-bye trip before the last log?

I did with Ghaani that is part of the reason why I don't want to come back.

Funny how we all go back to the Glade. I did the same with Aara. It just felt like home for him, even though we haven't been in that starting area for years.

When I got back into EQ for a brief period last year I rolled up a Bard, and it just wasn't the same. No more harsh levelling curve, so you'd be level 70 in a week and not really attached to any zones; no more Ranger Mafia or any sort of comraderie that we used to have; no time for raiding; hell, I think I grouped once from 1-70. The rest of the time I soloed my way up with a merc. Which was both a good and bad thing I guess, depending on how you look at it. But certainly a very different experience.

Keep in touch, bud.

Yeah, adversity tends to create camaraderie and lasting memories. Strange how that works, but hey.

I was just having this disucssion last night in WoW....again....with some newer MMO players. They all laughed and talked about how dumb and terrible it must have been to play EQ the way it was back then...I guess I just couldn't adequately explain to them why it was great.
