So I have taken a month or so off from the game, and I think I might make a new character on 7th Hammer. Probably a rogue or something, not sure yet. My guild on The Combine (which I still <3) is starting to fade because of the passing of our co-leader, which led the other leader to retire from the game. (Real death, not Livak-death). So a friend of mine and I are contemplating switching servers. (And rumor has it that The Combine will be merged eventually...someone said that if that happens, we're allowed to pick a different server to go to. Is this true? I'd love to move my ranger to 7th if I don't have to pay for it...)

So who should I look up once I get there? I know there's a thread saying who is active and who isn't somewhere, but I don't know how current that is.

I would, but I really don't feel like purchasing another $50 game. And what an enticement. "Come to me so I can kill you!" Evil necro.

*grins*

And Cak, I thought you were on 7th! Hrm. I don't know where to go now!

pft, whatever. I thought you quit WoW?

I might go to Xegony, Cak. I'll talk with my friend about it!

But Aaramis is on 7th, and I miss him, too.

/petition - Make all Lanys peeps go to the same server.

Heya Austy!
Two things to keep in mind:

1) Never listen to Kailtor :p

2) I've actually unsubscribed for the moment, as EQ was growing stale (found myself soloing more than I liked, although Aeralla is trying her damndest to get me to re-subscribe). I'd imagine if we had a good group of players around it'd be fine, but I was with a small group who slowly dwindled away and that kind of killed it for me.

But hey, send me an email and we can catch up!

I came back to EQ for the new expansion. However, I am finding a difficult time getting guild groups for myself. Mostly because I imagine majority of them don't know me, and they already have their own pre-conditioned groups they do stuff with. It will take time hopefully, but I hope to get into some guild groups on a consistent basis.

If that doesn't happen, then EQ becomes just a solo game. And I don't want to spend 15 dollars for a solo game, I have enough solo game stuff already that I don't need a monthly subscription one on top of that :)

Why do you set yourself up for destruction over this game time and time again? You know as well as everyone else on this forum what is going to end up happening.

Very True Given... it really felt good to move on from EQ myself. There's a much better world out there since the Lanys community is no more in EQ. That's strictly my opinion and loved the early years of Lanys but I would give anything if we could transplant those people in Warhammer. Just take the entire lanys server over to a WAR server. I can think of so many people I would love to destroy. (jk)

Best of luck in the new expansion. Regardless, this year's halloween stuff sounds fun in EQ.

Honestly I don't know sometimes why I consistently leave only to come back. I guess a lot of it is because, well... I think EQ is a fantastic game with regards to certain aspects. There is still a lot to do, I do enjoy myself in the game (for the most part), and I have a character that is powerful enough to allow me to do some things in game that I consider "cool". Of course far from being ultra powerful, but still.

I guess I am hoping for the best of both worlds to happen for me, and unfortunately it is usually a little bit of both. I am in Cucullin's guild, and people there seem to be cool (for the most part). I just would like to interact more in a group setting, which will come in time as people get to know each other.

I think the next time I leave (which is anywhere from 24 hours to 24+ months) I really should just change my account password and then throw away all the discs. Clear out all the bookmarked EQ links as well. Maybe then I will finally be done with the game. Then again, knowing me, I doubt it :)

You could quit EQ, and take up reading. Takes just as much time, and is a lot better for you. =) This, of course, is from someone busily leveling up his gnome in WoW. (67 so far!)

Cicely,

RL somewhat forced me to break the habit but MMO's are still my fun hobbie that allows me to escape from the real world. However, finding a fresh and fun game helped a lot. Joining with a RL friend and family made it even better.

I just came to the conclusion that there wasn't anything that I couldn't do in EQ and the new things wouldn't be as fun without the people. After trying nearly everything under the sun, WAR gave me that feeling of entering something entirely new and foreign to me as a gamer.

But if you are having fun and you enjoy EQ then you shouldn't find reason to quit, unless it's unhealthy for you then it's necessary to do something drastic. Heck, sell your account and throw everything away. Don't let EQ stop you from enjoying anything new. I'm still trying to wrestle Duty from EQ. He won't leave simply because he's not sold there's anything better. Overall, he's probably right.

New expansion is fun, I must say. Have not started all the quests yet (trying to get a few more AA so grinding per se) but I hear the rewards are pretty darn good. Odd seeing all the dragons in Field of Scale in war formation...

This kinda shit bugs the hell outta me.

CC do you remember the day I applied to join TSO, I think I just contacted you by /tell, though the details don't matter. It was the first time I met you. Remember the game world and guild as it was then? That's even maybe a bit late in the EQ life cycle, but you get the idea. Luclin had been released the month previous and we were just starting to do VP regularly with Esto.

Those days aren't coming back. Your happiness belongs to then.

We've all mostly moved on, many have even disappeared. The game is a hollow shell now of what it was before. What you're really looking for is the past, but you can't get that back.

You've always struck me as an amiable but very lonely person. You need to ditch the MMO habit and find satisfaction in real life. Find whatever it's gonna take for you to find that, and do it, be it going back to school or training for a new career, developing an athleticism or finding your true love, I dunno. But MMOs aren't gonna do it for you, that I guarantee.

Maybe I've spoken beyond my wisdom of the situation here, but I don't think I'm too far off. EQ was a social- and ife-crutch for many here, but those of us who found the way out are much better for it. I hope you do also.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with playing an MMORPG casually provided you have the willpower of a gnat. And so long as you don't cry yourself to sleep at night because you aren't going to be on top. Games like WoW make it very easy to play for 1-2 hours, or less, and still enjoy yourself.

Just because Dolalin here is/was completely unable to multi-task and play in MODERATION doesn't mean it's impossible.

Not so much meant for Cicely so much as anyone who actually might buy into his logic. An MMO is not an all-or-nothing proposition. Even in EQ you had casuals who enjoyed themselves very much playing an hour per day, and you have even more of those types in WoW.

This is the same Dolalin who cried to me when he got booted from Vita and claimed he deleted his character and destroyed all of his gear (only to magically have it all back again 3 days later). He'd certainly be an expert on pointing out who the lonely people were.

There's a difference between people thinking I am a girl (and me letting them) and me pretending to be a girl. There were some who posted pictures of "themselves" where they pretended to be chicks and others who had in-game marriages with men (boys) where they acted like chicks. I did none of that bullshit. Not that anyone will admit it, but you'd be surprised how many people I told in-game "I have a penis" when they tried to hit on me. One even asked point blank (and this is a quote, not a paraphrase) "before I seduce you, are you a chick or a dude IRL?" He wasn't a "worthy" candidate (wink wink) for me to pretend to be a chick, so I told him flat out that I had a cock and balls.

Usually the argument goes something like this. Personally, I prefer staring at female ass over male ass hours on end. Some idiot usually responds: "LULZ THEYRE PIXELS U GET HOT OVER THEM?". Answer: I would rather stare at female pixels over male pixels. There's a difference between whacking off to them, and finding them "aesthetically pleasing".

seriously, one trip to bazaar with a moderate amount of plat and you can get fully geared beyond your wildest dreams if you have been gone a few years. 100K plat will def get you a huge boost.

I quit with like 15 million or something after buying Berserker twink gear. The most I ever had was 45 mil or so of my own cash. Conquest bank was way up there for its time also.. Probably a piddly amount by todays standard.

I think it's time they add a couple of new tiers of money or allow you to turn in so much for a document (ie check) that is worth so much. Carrying around 100k is crazy no matter what.

If it doesn't weigh anything now, who cares how much you carry around?

Aash, I've been playing on 7th hammer sporadically as my necro, Nalaskin. I also play Kenyanan from time to time.

After having our traditional Thanksgiving night of card tournaments, it never fails people bring up old EQ memories. Last night, after we kicked our wives and children out to go shopping so we could play some cards without interruption or guilt for how much we were going to eat, Duty began making his case for playing EQ, Zero brought up his struggles between and WAR and EQII, with Xolar and I making our stance for WAR.

It's odd all of us played WoW but none of us stuck with it. Some of our family still sticks out EQ in The Chosen Clan on Seventh but some of us enjoyed moving beyond the game. Has EQ actually become a tolerable game in terms or time and effort? I believe Duty has mentioned raiding 3 days a week, hitting 3 major mobs each night and it taking approximately 2 hours or less. Also, the game finally began consolidating the community by making the guild lobby the hangout. However, I think it's terribly sad that most zones of vacant (Why does SOE pull the game together a little bit?) It also appeared last night that EQII bombed on this latest expansion? I actually have no desire, no matter what someone says, to go back to EQII. Finally WAR best debate of the night but, everyone was very uncertain how well WAR would hold it's playerbase.

Anyway, i'm curious to hear what people think of their current EQ experience. I don't play MMO's nearly as much as I once did but, it just blows my mind how EQ can actually be so appealing to people and fit so well in people's lives (with actually feeling like you accomplished something). I believe if EQ would lower their sub price to 4.99 a month, I would play the game but, WAR, to me, is a great game and i'm a PvP person anyway. However, I must admit, it was cool to hear someone talk about EQ the way some of the guys did last night. This game has been around for nearly 10 years and it still gives people a sense of accomplishment and excitement without ruling their lives.

EQ is still a fun game for me. I am in a guild that raids 3 nights a week and we are actually progressing at a pace that works well for me. My only option to move forward faster in progression is to join Diligence or Forged Souls but I have neither the time nor inclination to raid 6 days a week.

It's fairly easy to get to 85 now and this new expansion is very enjoyable. Group progression actually gets you good EXP. The Mercenaries are a nice touch for those times I want to push what I do when not grouped. The cleric and warrior mercenaries are not even close to a real person played toon but they are functional enough.

If you guys do decide to pop in to check it out let me know and I can give you a tour.
