Yeah I am playing a little of EQ right now, I doubt my attention span will last more then a month.

But the nice thing is that there are a lot of attunable items in game now that are cheap. I was able to equip Cakvala atleast enough to not die instantly. :)

Syuni's still bopping about on Seventh, it seems, but the people I knew are gone. Dunno if it's just the summer blues or what, but it's not really convincing me to reup the account.

Game is easier because of serious mudflation. My lvl 71 monk alt has bought 300 hp gear for 1k in the bazaar, which is ridiculous. My magician went and duo'ed a bunch of NToV mobs and Dozekar the other day- 40 hp items in a former raid zone. Ha ha ha.

And getting AA is far easier now, thanks to the AA changes. I feel the game still goes strong, and there is a ton of stuff to do...

The zones I see people on in xegony are PoK, Baston of Thunder, Guild Lobby, and Bazaar... the Bazaar sitll has 250+ merchants selling 15k in items.

Yeah I like the fact I can solo in a hot zone without dieing instantly and gain EXP rather fast, I like this a lot.

Yeah I agree about the zones-

PoK
Guild Hall
Guild Lobby
Bazaar
BoT

I would also add in-

DSH
Crystallos

Everywhere else is minimal life to dead, unless there is a raid. And BoT will be replaced by RSS once that becomes the new hot zone...

warriors are hitting near 40K HP these days i believe, i know Knights break 30 for a fact, so that 300hp gear isnt really as good as it may appear. Dont forget when we were around 150hp gear was uber, and I wont even go into AC and stat mod's.

34k HP for a warrior

And yeah 300hp gear isnt great but Im never really going to push for high end, casual players like myself still can get 500HP items. Which is crazy in my eyes still.

Exactly why EQ appeals to us again.
As a casual gamer, there's always upgrades to be had and always places to explore. Which keeps it interesting.
EQ2 grew stale for me when it became obvious what my armor sets would be for the next 30 levels.... the same as what every other Ranger or Assassin was wearing.
EQ has the largest item database I've ever come across, with a bit of customization via augments thrown in. It almost feels like a MMORPG Diablo at times. But hey, that's why people played Diablo for so long, isn't it? :)

And while the graphics are outdated, I do find a lot of EQ's game mechanics are sorely missed in other games.
Things such as levitate, bard speed, mez, snare, fear, etc. aren't in many other games.

This is so correct, these elements let you be creative with each and every kill/encounter. All these other games are the same damn Debuff - DoT - Hit routines. Even the heals are very stale as they all usually progress exactly the same scale for most every class.

ps. Don't forget Shammy/Chanter Slows, def a big factor in EQ

pps. EQ2 should have been the same damn game with an updated graphics engine, the end!

My magician has not raided any content in the current expansion, nor the prior 2-3 as well. Very casual, in a very casual guild. It was crazy when I looted my first 500 hp item, which is a pet focus item with a better pet focus than the end game item from the prior expansion. Happy days!

And now they have these tasks that you can do daily, take like 15-30 minutes to do, and you get faction and special currency. After about 2 weeks or so, you are able to buy 350+ hp/mana gear for yourself or your alts. All by doing silly things like delivering a message from one zone to another...

Insane.

I havent done any quests as of yet... right now just getting Next 10 levels and AA ... if i make it that far.

Exp is easy enough though so it isnt to terribly hard and i can solo which frees me from 4+ hour group exp runs.
