I'm confused, not knowing the party in question or details about eqII..

What are we looking at here? I see someone exposed someone elses PM to Sony regarding a bug he didn't want to see exploited?

Well...it is amusing and all, but I'd have a serious issue about the board administration going into people's private messages. I understand their justification that the person's actions were harmful to their forums (by his revoking their status blah blah blah) but still, I think it's pretty reprehensible.

I can't think of any reason which would ever make it acceptable unless under the user agreement posters were aware their messages were not secure (and the administration could/would access them if they wanted).

But I'm a big supporter of privacy.

Ok, I'm about 2 weeks late spotting this, but that was a slightly humourous read. Thanks for the link.

There's been suspicion about Aeralik for quite some time now, for a number of reasons. He's on the SOE team *and* he plays ingame (and makes no secret about it), so there's been questions about favourtism, cheating, etc.. Not only that, but he (or she?) is also the person in charge of balancing some Scout classes (in particular, Assassin vs. Ranger), and is known to play a Dark Elf Assassin ingame (and it's no secret that Rangers are gimped in EQ2). Coincidence? The Rangers don't think so...

So it's nice to know that he (or she) is also corrupt.
It kinda confirms all the other suspicions.

this kinda stuff must have always been going on though, in all seriousness. Didn't most EQ gm's also play, just on different servers? They may not have used all the sploits they would receive info on, but they definitely had an edge on the normal folk.

I am underwhelmed. The admin just seems like a douchebag to me, and seems to think from the getgo that his flame is incredibly clever and hard-hitting. I'm awestruck at why there are 51 pages.

What gets me is, how do we know the GM wasn't joking with his guild leader? People say all sorts of stupid shit in tells and private messages. The whole "look the other way" thing really sounds like the makings of an inside joke. Now, I suppose if they saw them take down the mob right after the posting and they owned him miraculously, sure.

Too little known about the nature of his relationship to the guild leader for 51 pages of owned.

But yea, also a moron for breaching someone's private shit. Lost his fansite status and cries like a little baby. Here's to hoping it stays that way, permanently.

oh ya, I was wondering why losing that fansite status was such a monumental deal, do you really gain that much incoming hits from having it?

I'd imagine being linked off any MMO's main website would give you some traffic.

EQFlamers was/is the Mos Eisley of EQ2 fansites. Occasionally you got some really good info there, but most often than not, it was just people making fun of each other over failing at instanced content or the select few that would be singled out for asking for advice.

Sounds just like what happened on Lanys when the guy from, shit I can't remember the guild name, had a bunch of items from VP in game yet no one had even been there yet. Turns out a Guide/GM was in their guild and was giving them items. Anyone remember that.

It was a troll SK, Haxor I believe?

The cleric that became the GM was a dwarf cleric, he came back later as a dark-elf cleric once his GM status was revoked. He was actually one of the people that got the whole fan-faire thing started in the bay area with a bar-b-que he organized and got a job from SOE.

Haxor from Inner Fire had the Executioners Axe 2.0 from VP and was showing it off in Oasis. Forgot the name of it, a quick look through alakazam could find it. Thats what I remember most.

Guild was Inner Circle, before they were Inner Fire I believe.

Other than the Gratino Kitana of Flowing Bullshit posts on Safehouse, thats all I really remember now.

I only knew of two corrupt GMs from Lanys. Neither were dwarf clerics so I cannot put a name to that one.

I ran Howling stones with some monk that 2 boxed an enchanter for the longest time on Larreth. One night he says 'screw this trash, hold on going to talk to someone" and our entire group was teleported to the farm area with all the agroable trash around us dead lol. Ended up doing that 2 or 3 more times in the month or 2 I grouped w/him.

If I saw the gm's name that was in zone at the time I'd recognize it.

I think Jannaka was the one who banned Malorian for "abusing" a GM. I was on vacation for a week when I got banned and I know it sure as fuck wasn't me. Whatev.

Ahh, Gratiano's Katana of Flowing Water. Only, he didn't really have it.

Haxor got banned for flashing that axe.

In 2000, we (Solidaire) were in The Arena doing our weekly Fight Night event (intra-guild PvP), and four Guides joined in. Absolute blast, but they all got fired for it.

I believe the cleric's name was Aymen.....he had some sorta priesty sounding name like Aymen Todat.

It all came down because Haxxor was showing off the VP drop to a certain female player (online flirting ftw!) right after the expansion release. What he didn't realize is that the woman's roomate was a GM. After they researched it some, I think it turned out that Aymen had gotten the item for Haxxor, resulting in the bans.

Yea he did, I remember that blog. Good writeup too, he was very sincere.

I can only imagine the GM conversation...

"YOU.... YOU LET THEM HAVE FUN? THE PLAYERS?!?!?!?!??! UNACCEPTABLE!! OUTRAGE"

I just wish I could meet the guy who made that call. Look past the terms of service you dumb cowardly piece of shit.

Nah, I think it had the word "raven" in the name for some reason.
