Rise of Kunark Description:

Centuries of war have left their mark on the continent of Kunark. Explore this massive region as your existing character or as the new playable race – The Sarnak – and discover a world full of intrigue and danger. Engage in all-new adventures as you embark on a crusade to reveal the truth of the wars between the reborn Iksar Empire, Sarnaks, and Dragons and uncover artifacts long since thought lost to history. The lush, nostalgic continent of Kunark begins your courageous path from the new starting city in Timorous Deep. Rise of Kunark is the fourth expansion pack for the critically acclaimed EverQuest II franchise. With the introduction of the new playable race, the Sarnak, and new starting area, Timorous Deep, Rise of Kunark provides a full range of content for new player’s levels 1-20 as well as advanced, high level players whom can now achieve up to level 80 in high level zones, both increasing their Adventure and Tradeskill classes. Rise of Kunark includes many highly-detailed areas that are fondly remembered from EverQuest as well as brand new areas only recently unearthed! Hundreds of new quests, dozens of new NPCs, brand new Epic Weapon quests for each class, and new armor sets await those who dare set foot on this fabled continent.

Feature Set:

All-New Player Race – Start up a brand new Sarnak – the classic dragon-like humanoid creature that now inhabits Timorous Deep. Exiled from your homeland and magically altered, discover how your new breed came to be, and eventually return home to help your race triumph over the evil Iksar.

New Starting Area – Begin your adventure from the new starting area in the islands of Timorous Deep. Conclude your day of epic quests and retire to new housing within the Village of Gorowyn.

Level Cap Raised – Continue your adventures on your existing character in Kunark, expanding on your achievements as Adventure, Tradeskill and Guild levels all increase to 80.

More Unique Zones – Advance your way through new massive regions, containing many zones filled with nostalgia and danger, such as the Emerald Jungle and the Skyfire Mountains

Hundreds of New Quests – The tale of Kunark is told through hundreds of new quests, aimed at gameplay of all types: solo, group, and raid.

More Weapons & Armor – New Epic Weapon quests for all 24 classes, with new weapons for both those who raid and those who choose not to. Battle through the opposition and acquire additional fabled and legendary armor sets as well.

New Mount – Explore the world on the shoulders of a new rampaging beast - The Kunarkian Rhinoceros.

New Deities – Recent activities on Norrath have again attracted the attention of the gods. Bertoxxulous the Plaguebringer, Karana the Rain Keeper, and the mysterious Tribunal return to exert their influences on planet. As with the existing gods of Norrath, players may pledge to these new deities to gain access to their Blessings and Miracles.

Dozens of New NPCs – Encounter and engage a wide variety of new enemies that inhabit the menacing lands of Kunark

Taken from: Allakhazam's Magical Realm: Everquest II

There is also an interview with Hartsman attached to that that goes into more detail.

This was taken from FoH boards!! Also, don't forget Neriak is going live as well!

Take care,
Muli

We bought EQ2 accounts last week. Level 19 Bruiser/Defiler duo. This expansion sounds sweet but I guess it won't be like the old Kunark with lower-level content. Sounds like a raid area.

i have a 40something cleric and a 50 provisioner if anybody wants to buy that account . It has desert of flames too.. I would be willing to part for this at cost. I think I paid 49 for the game and like 29 for the expansion. Not 100% sure.

Level 80?!?!?

Not even Everquest 1, after 10 or so expansions, is at level 80...

EQ2 was designed for a minimum of 200 levels worth of expansion. They said that about 2 years before it came out.

Level 80 is nothing.

I am excited about the level increase. I want more AA's too!

I enjoy mentoring with the current set up.

I'm thinking of trying out EQ2 for the first time, since Sarnaks = ownage. Iksar/Sarnak were the best things from EQ.

Anyone happen to pick up a fresh account with the EoF release? Im looking to maybe switch over to EQ2 but Id rather just try to find someone that wants a WoW account than spend the money on EoF.

I downloaded the 7 day trial for echoes of faydwear and I must say: this game rocks.

The intro movie is unique and awesome, and the fae are cool, but I wouldn't play one to lv80 =p. I will for sure play this game once rise of kunark comes out.

Picked up the game last night, the one that has eqII and all current expansions.

Going to give it a try tonight I suppose but I notice that I qualify for 3 veterans awards? I guess one per year of eq I played. I missed getting 4 by one 2 months, since i started in March 2000 and not January. Wth are the rewards? lol

Also, I wanted to ask this before hehe. Givin, how the hell do you find so much time to play damn near every mmo and console game?

Don't quote me on it. But some of the Veteran rewards appear at the "2 month" marker, which is the first month you pay for apparently.

Unless you bought the special edition when the game first came out. You got basically nothing for your efforts in EQ1. They gave those people a title based on their original server.

Hmm. I got out of online chat help a bit ago with an eq tech support and she rated my account from March 2000, saying that I earned 3 veteran rewards through my Station account for eqII claimable when I logged in.

Shades of Destiny?

I'm in Hands of Prophets. Been a little while since I played though, dont have enough cash atm.

About the veteran rewards - I got a "Of Lanys T'vyl" title and a painting for my house along with the monthly/yearly vet rewards and then the rewards for buying the box set in store. Theres some good stuff like double adv exp potions, double crafting exp potions, a monkey pet, a robot copter pet, and some other things.

Yeah I know I get a copter or something for just buying the game.

So all players get houses right off the bat like FFXI? Kinda cool. The one thing I still can't get used to is the graphics. They just seem...I dunno, off.

Also most of the videos I've seen look like old eq, what with the major video lag and chop in big action. I really REALLY don't want to spend raiding like Larreth did for 4 years staring at a wall to reduce video lag.

You dont start with a house, but the first ones are REALLY REALLY cheap, its like 5s a week for rent or something.

The graphics do take some getting used to over the normal EQ graphics, so does the third person thing, but since you play WoW that wont be a problem. I like it a lot though, its a lot better than eq1 and WoW IMO. I like the graphics of EQ2 better than vanguards. To me vanguard looked like a big turd, (my computer isnt that great either) but eq2 runs great.

As for the video lag or whatever, I never had problems with it. I just have other peoples spell effects turned off and still keep mine on, never had a problem running around the citys except the occasional hiccup when it was loading a building or something in the distance. I've never really raided except like 15 man epic2's in antonica but lag wasn't an issue.

Framerates are actually surprisingly good on our aging systems (Radeon 9600SE 128MB AGP). There is a bit of drag in the larger areas. This is, of course, running on Max Performance (minus a few tweaks). Game still looks decent, but not as good as WoW frame-for-frame quality-wise.

Never been on a raid so I can't say how that would affect framerates, but in groups in indoor dungeons I never dropped below 20 with effects enabled.

I have names and all spell effects off when we raid. They get in the way of what is going on. The UI I use has a button added to swap out my settings quickly.

Group or solo I have the settings on max. I think it is beautiful.

Yea, the graphics on the game are awesome and I don't lag one bit.

Only complaint I have is that I can't use the name "Bigteeth" on any server...

Started playing last night. Not a bad looking game at all. Good sound, like the voiceovers.

The interface still seems a tad clunky but I *am* used to WoW.

Made a Kerran Fury. Not too shabby other than her looking like a giant housecat.....

I actually really enjoyed EQ2 when I played it.

I have a 60 Ranger and a 50 Coercer on Oggok, or whatever server they merged with. Can't remember now. Was in a guild called Nerfed. Pretty good people, was lots of fun.

Not really... I don't know of any that impact gameplay or anything.

It's a really smooth game.. a lot of fun. If you haven't played it in a long time, you really should and give it a decent chance.

Take care,
Muli
