Yeah, he passed last year. Keith Parkinson was his name. But he had left SOE anyway and was working for Sigil until he got sick. He created the three main characters in the current Vanguard box though, but fell ill before he could finish the actual box cover. :[

Though I really like the new cover, it is made by an artist named Donato. I think Keith picked him. I remember Brad saying in the FoH forums that just like Keith, Donato made a large painting for the cover, but we only see the left side of it on the box. Also, if I remember correctly the part we see, the left part of the painting, is done in Keith's style as a homage to him, the rest of the painting uses Donato's own style.

But back on topic, SOE needs to hire better artists to do Firiona. She looks uglier and uglier as the new expansions are released. :\

Keith Parkison, I thought, ruled. Artistically, he captured every expansion, theme, idea, etc. that he worked on. That a blow to SOE / Brad when he passed on. He really put their ideas into quality visual.

I wonder if Nick Parkison is any relation. He's VG PR/Marketing Manager right?

Where did you get this screenshot? Because personally I think its photoshopped, but it would be VERY funny if it wasnt. I might buy the expansion just based on the premise that there would be ninjas AND pirates warring...

From the Stratics HOC last night, it sounds like this is nothing more than a fancy Legacy of Ykesha expansion for mainly 65ish players, with one raid zone threw in as a bone for everyone else.

Their idea of ship to ship combat is moving from one boat to another in an already pre existing instance.

You cannot own your own boat.

You cannot sail a boat.

Pirate booty = another name for Wayfairers Camps.

The EQ boat system was a nightmare. Lawl at anyone who pays 30 bucks for an expansion centered around them.

A boat ride was the biggest fucking adventure in that game.

Sid Meier is the only man who can do Ninjas vs. Pirates! correctly anyway.
