Nah im not back, I doubt I could even remember my login name and password at this point, lol. The sad thing is, I didnt stop playing till pop was close to release and yet kael gear IS a big upgrade for me! I wonder how hard it would be to get decent gear at this point for a mid level character? At least decent enough so my monkey could solo kunark content. :p

Get your monk some levels and take it on DoD missions, pretty good gear is awarded in those to everyone in the group.

Nah its just not worth it. I dont have the free time to invest in a game like everquest. Not too mention id have to buy all the expansions from GoD on up.

Eq1 looks better and better all the time... although vanguard will be nice... I wish they would go back and revamp most of the EQ zones or at least half of them to 55+ content, instead fo pushing expansion after expansion that would have helped the longevity of the game alot as I feel that is still the best mmorpg out there to date for my personal taste. That and droppable item inflation control would have been wonderful.

I thought they were revamping EQ zones didnt they just redo East and West Commonlands?

I've said this for a long time but, looking back at all the expansions, I really wish SOE would have implemented the worthwhile zones into the current content. Velious could have been in Halas/Everfrost area, Kunark could have been in numerous places, and the planes could have remained as they were originally but that's just my opinion. When they took the community out of the orignal content it made the game appear empty and disconnected people, further spacing them out. It was sad to see the Karana's empty, south K, Aviak's.. just to name a few. The high-end should still travel through the lower and mid-community which inspires people to become a part of those they see in the high end community.

I think this would have also helped in EQ2, especially PvP. I have no idea why people want to implement new content totally isolated from the world they created.

Just my opinion...

Take care,
Muli

Heh... don't you think it's a little late to say "aren't they revamping old eq zones'... when they already have probably 200+ zones??? I was more referring to the fact after POP... they should have created a story line that integrated old zones and start revamping those zones for new content. Like they did with mistmoore. I'm not a fan of instances, but I did enjoy DON quite at the time, and it still integrated some old zones.

I agree they should of stopped after Planes of Power and redid all the older zones to match that design scheme, that would of been fantastic.

They could have even made it into a new storyline for after the pop expansion was finished. Basically, not only did time get reversed, but certain things got changed as well, all a part of the gods efforts to keep them from being attacked ever again blah blah blah. It could have turned everything old into new sets of zones, imagine if blackburrow got revamped? Im not talking turning it into high end content, I mean sort of a parrallel world where everything is about the same level wise, but mobs are different, cities are diferent, hell, even the interaction between races could be changed. Updtated graphics, new quests. It would almost be like releasing everquest all over again. But maybe that would be too much to release in a single expansion. Definately a neat idea though. Something to draw in new players, and old players would have thier nostalgia trying to recognize what used to be old landmarks in thier new form. Sort of like eq2, only not anywheres near as drastic of a change.

Dob,

that's a really interesting idea. Once Time was breached, completed, or whatever, they could have went all kinds of directions altering the lands of Norrath based on GM events etc. The game would have been endless, content intact, yet constantly new and challenging.

I guess, just like everyone else, they got lazy and dollar signs in theirs eyes. It's a shame. The more I think about it, they really didn't even need EQ2 or Vanguard but could have groomed EQ from now to eternity. At some point they could have actually made EQ2 a true continuation of the story was new technologies proved to be more effective.

I think i accidently ported you to hate once upon a time on my 1st wiz heorot :(

EQ had so many great things going for it but it just got to crazy with the DoD expansion (whatever it was called). I was happy to clear though everything in the game up to that expansion but raiding in there was just retarded. Lguk on crack would be one hell of a revamp that is forsure.

AA's even though they eventually kind of hurt new players coming into the game was one of the best idea's I have seen in a MMO to date. You had choices and freedom to advance your char post max lvl, not to many people maxxed the aa's before an expansion was out and it provided signifgant changes to some classes to help try and balance things (beserker for instance being a shitty ass class to start with went to top 2 dps in the game after you aa'd it and got it a nice lil axe.

I think it was around 1400 before the last expansion, no clue what it is now.
My monk has about 250, Wizard around 800. Way too much time there...
