Me: 3 Tickets for the 4:10 showing of Thor
Ticket Girl: $56 please
Me: Uhhh... I only wanted 3 tickets, not 7.
Ticket Girl: Oh, sorry $42!
me: Uhhh... I only want 3 tickets.
Ticket Girl: Yes sir, 3 tickets at $14 apiece, $42
Me: Is this a movie pack price with all you can eat popcorn and drinks?
Ticket Girl: No sir, it's a 3D MOVIE!
Me: Yeah, thats great, I have glasses from the others I have seen. I don't need your $6 pair of 3D glasses.
Ticket Girl:Sorry sir, they are built into the price.
Me: That's too bad, I'll take a refund now please. I'll download it tonight from usenet and you pirates won't get a dime of my money.

What a crock of shit. I don't mind paying 89 even $10 to see a movie, but to take it balls deep for a $1 pair of glasses that I already have 10 pairs of is just fucking robbery.

Yeah, I hate this too. It's a poor business model for the theatres, not very consumer friendly. I also have tons of those glasses from previous movies.

With a 4yo and 7yo boy... movies are getting expensive.

I can totally agree on this, I hate the fact they "must" charge you for the experience and not just the Glasses though you always end up keeping 4 pairs at home.

Really? How about you give a disocunt when you bring your own damn 3d Glasses. Blah

Aren't you supposed to return those after the show?

But yeah, 3D movies are a ripoff, even if you stole 5 pairs of those things each show.

I know you are suppose to return them, But we kept some due to forgetting to turn them in. I feel i need to sit to the end of the credits to get the full moneys worth. gah!

They can return me my money once I return the glasses then...

Anyway, I don't pay for 3d anymore, I have my glasses, I take a ticket to a 2d movie and go see the 3d movie instead using my own glasses that I bought. (note bought, not stolen)

When it's well done it's nice. And even then we don't have the choice here, the movie either play in 2d or 3d but not both.

We can't (and don't) watch 3D movies. They make my wife ill (as in tossing cookies due to the way here eyes focus) and my son has similar issues.

I will probably never purchase a 3D TV nor go to 3D movies. If they could just go to some sort of real-D where you don't need any special glasses and what you watch is not any different than what you see IRL then maybe. But until then I would like to see this 3D fad to go away again.

3-D movies done right are awesome. Avatar looked awesome in 3-D. Tron had a few good 3-D scenes (but the movie was shit). Some people don't like going to the IMAX to watch movies either. Different strokes for different folks.

I was bored with Dances with Smurfs (Avatar, hell I owned the Blue-Ray disk and gave it away)

Have not seen the new Tron yet (I loved the Original one. I remember that being one of the first movies that I got to go to all by myself, even walking to the theater)

Avatar is pretty much the only movie where I considered the 3D to not be a distraction. Even then it wasn't necessary to enjoy the movie.

Inflation hasn't exactly been a foreign concept to the 2000-2011 economy. People continue to complain about movie prices, game prices, food prices, gas prices, etc. With the exception of gas prices, most prices have actually followed a steady path of increase. It's the old "That can of pop used to cost me 5 cents" adage, when in fact people are making more money but products are also increasing in price.

Fewer people end up going to the movies in economic downturns, which also doesn't help.

More importantly, movies would be doing better if people weren't able to download them on the same day as release in the theatre, which more and more people continue to do, driving the cost up.

Agreed. A better non-cliche plot without flat characterization was necessary to enjoy the movie.

Yeah Thor is a good example of 3D done right. They are not trying to make you dodge shit they throw at your face the whole movie. They used the 3d to make you feel the depth of the environment without going overboard with 3d "effect".

Jackass 3D is an example of 3D done properly. Sad as that may be.

Th best 3D'ing in Thor was the end credits. When I saw that I thought, "What the hell, why wasn't the rest of the movie like that."

I found Avatar 3D annoying only because the blurred so much of the content that they didn't want you focusing on. I doubt that 3D requires the producer to "pick" for the viewer where they want to to focus. It makes text completely unreadable if not the center of focus.

I wish they'd let 3D just die the death it deserves. This is what, the 3rd round of it? I gave a few a try. Didn't care for it then, don't care for it now. /curmudgeon

Ding ding ding. The only 3D movie I thought was worthwhile since seeing Captain EO for the first time.

3d movies give me a migraine without fail.

My husband has the exact same complaint. So fortunately, I don't need to argue about 3d vs non-3d when we do go to the movies. :)

Between the lens replacement for my keratoconus, and the minor cataract that developed form the healing steroid eye drop (Pred Forte) I had to use.

My vision is way off in both eyes. 3D glass make me puke almost immediately.

This! The ending was very pretty.

Also, stay for the end AFTER the credits?
Can you say Cosmic Cube?

I don't have a huge problem with 3D in general, but the general discomfort and time it takes for my eyes to adjust make me prefer 2D movies.
