These things are the most overrated turds on the planet.

I loved my old Treo. I could point and surf, I could get emails, and moving media around was easy. This Blackberry is simply clunky at every turn. Trying to copy 15-20 pictures off it, and it's choking.

I can't figure out why these things are popular.

I hate the damn things. They were so terribad in the old black and white model days, and the next versions that had color were no better - they just had color. I hated using my corporate-mandated piece of garbage that I swore never to use a Blackberry ever again.

The fact that they stopped innovating until competition came along and smacked them around just cemented my dislike for the company.

BB's are okay but the web browser is the worst by far, the GPS is pretty shitty too.

TBH I guess the only thing I liked was the instant email and being able to run more than one thing at a time. I used to be a BB Dev but it is a fustrating platform because the tools for the SDK (Both their JDE and Eclipse plug-in) crashed all the time unless you had an XP 32bit system. Even though they said 5.0 would be better for devs it's just a hell of a lot worse.

IMHO, Blackberrys only prospered because they were first to market w/ email sync. Worst OS and user interface I've ever used on a handheld device.

Now, there are so many other options for the same tech.

I have a blackberry curve and i love it but its the first advance phone ive ever had though. Won a Palm Pre at work so its like night and day now.

I owned a Treo... if I could run it over 3x with my car and then throw it from the Sears tower... I would (but I lost it).

BB is for commercial use (need to stay in contact with corporate Outlook).

Android FTW... many many many times over.

I have a Palm Centro. I *HATE* the OS (and I've been told most Palms have the same OS. It's slow, clunky and just outright annoying.)


I am thinking I might get a Droid. My brother and dad just purchased two, and they love them.

Cak - For me it was the app choice on Android that won me over to the droid rather than waiting for the pre. That and the impressive hardware specs/Verizon.

Yeah the Android Market is very developed vs Pre App Store but i love my Pre I cant deny that.
