So I'm waiting at the oil change place and they of course have it on FoxNews. I'm watching this show with a guy running around in front of an audience, answering his own questions. It looks like an infomercial, but I'm not sure what he's trying to sell. All the idealistic young people with questions, he just brushes off. People who agree with him get the spotlight and microphone.

Glenn Beck

Who is this a-hole preaching fear, hate and intolerance?
Time magazine likenend him to Joe McCarthy? Didn't we agree he was an a-hole?

I can't watch CNN either anymore, it's all info techno overload with charts and graphs. Just watch the local news, and looking for a new oil change place.

I try to keep my position on the fence, listening to both sides but Fox news is so fucking off the wall, biased and borderline psychotic these days that I don't even give it a glance.

CNN at least reports fairly objectively.

Fox is flat out nuts and it's attracting more and more racist, paranoid, extreme far right folks that are willing to accept anything that Fox, or one of its folks like Glenn the fucking nutjob Beck's words as biblical.

It's downright creepy. No matter all the strange and alarming crap the Democrats seem to be strutting towards....these fox fanatics are just insane...and their numbers are growing.

Juxtapose a couple words, and each side believes exactly the same thing about the other. Or rather, says the same thing because it's how you get ratings in our society. Don't put too much stock in it. ;)

However, it's bullshit. There is no equivalent to Fox on the left.

Because people, generally, love hearing their own thoughts echoed back at them and avoid things that challenge them to think about their positions.

If you count only television media, sure. But it has not been for lack of trying. The market responds to sensationalism, and if your schtick is 'look at how crazy Fox is' people will just watch Fox. A large share of their viewership can really be chalked up to good marketing.

Even before they went towards op-ed, Fox was simply less boring to watch. And it still is.

Believe it or not, Foxnews was pretty fair and balanced when it started.

Not all republicans watch that dribble anymore. Unless of course I just want some entertainment. It's pretty much 24 hours of The Daily Show from the right. Except they aren't trying to be funny.
