A guy at work came back from deployment and has been mixing this stuff up in bottles, but I've also seen them in stores for about $3. Better, cheaper alternative to energy drinks.

Tastes like cough medicine strained through a sweat sock though. ;)

It's caffiene for people who don't like coffee. Personally I don't think any of them taste that great, and Red Bull w/ vodka makes me projectile vomit.

Once you're older you will.

I don't use them...but I've found prior to 30 I had no problems working over 60 hours per week, attending school, having a social life, etc. I had no problems keeping up with an insane schedule. In fact the more hectic the more I loved it, I thrive under certain types of pressure.

Post 30, trying to maintain a FAR lighter schedule kicked my fucking ass inside out and I was constantly tired. (When I returned to school). Had nothing to do with my health issues either. I had previously worked full time, did counseling on the side (which was physically and emotionally draining) AND attended school while being completely self supporting...and was fine. In my 30s I went back for a different degree (in the hard sciences), didn't have to work while doing so, my parents graciously assumed all educational expenses so we didn't even have the additional burden there...and I felt like I was going to die from lack of sleep.

And it really, REALLY sucked to realize that my inability to have limitless energy was simply part of getting older.

:(

That being said, I don't use energy drinks primarily because I'm leery of some of the 'side' ingredients, especially since I DO take more than a few medications. And caffiene doesn't have the normal affect on me (or a few of my other relatives I found out so it's probably a genetic thing). It doesn't make me more alert, I can go right to sleep after a couple double espressos.

Only thing that even remotely helps me is eating right and exercise...that gives me more energy. But even then, I felt continually exhausted.

And I know it's that much more difficult for parents working a full time job AND running around after kids, and how exhausted they are at the end of the day. I've see the legion of zombie parents at the games. ;)

Wait 'til you're 30, it's a helluva ride.

Yeah, I was still doing the up till 4am nights gaming or hanging out at a club or bar till around 29. It was like slamming on the brakes lol....At 32 I can still do long days but I can really tell the difference.

Oddly enough caffeine really doesn't do much to me unless I get some massive dose, like drinking an entire bottle of bawls in one chug, or one of those double size diet amps...The rest of them are like fizzy koolade drinks.

Green tea actually does have some caffeine, about 1/4 coffee iirc.
