We were both proud of our pumpkins. We both said these were the best pumpkins we ever carved. We did it early this morning for tonights tricker treaters.

We handed out snickers and milky way. We were safe... so we thought.

I now sit in my office looking out the window with my monitor brightness on its lowest level, BB gun at my side. They always return to the scene of the crime.

Oh, I also yanked the school levy sign that I previously supported out of my front yard as I cleaned up the remains of one of the greatest pumpkins ever carved. The other's remains are out in the street under the light for the whole neighborhood to see.

Come back you little fuckers, I dare you.

I feel your pain, DS. After last year, I had a security video camera set up to watch mine. We video taped (and got great face shots) of the "punkin smooshers" this year. We gave them to the police and they were absolutly amazed that we wanted to prosecute, as we KNEW who those little fuckers were. They decided, on their own, that they were not going to issue citations, so we contacted the city prosecutor. Tee hee, they were livid, and citations were issued. We go to court for tresspassing and criminal damage in November. Now I suppose we just have to wtch it, so the house is not burned down, but we have insurance for that. :)

Cripes man, I had no idea you were going through that.

/em wipes a tear from his eye

Kind of eerie, how you can see the remains of that second pumpkin under the streetlight. It's almost as if to serve as an example for other possible pumpkin victims.

When will the insanity end?

damn steeleye, that's hardcore. Good for you! Fuck the little jerks.

I am trying to think of ways that I can either protect my pumpkins or make the little assholes damn sorry they ever touched them.

Would orange paint mix with petroleum jelly you think? Need something to keep it wet. I also thought of putting needles poking out of it in random spots.

I am going to be passing the pumpkin patch later today, I am thinking of buying 2 more pumpkins and carving them in the hopes that I can entice them to try their shenanigans again.

We got Detroit network TV (abc/nbc/cbs) when I was a kid (all of eastern Canada did, I think), and they would always hype Devil's night, big arsons and shit happening all over town. That's the image of the US that half of Canada grew up with for years. Of course now the network stations are out of new york, I think.

Used to be called Mischief Night back east, but they don't have it in California (Day before Halloween that is).

Tonight so far I've had 3 lazy ass kids show up without costumes. I've asked each one where their costume is (none of the kids are poor). One shrugged and was a teen, I said ah changed your mind and went (yeah). Second said, I didn't feel like it.

Third said, I didn't have time. WTF you didn't have time?!

*sigh*

Meanwhile I'm giving away huge handfuls of candy so we don't have leftovers. Weather is great...just not a lot of kids this year.

My parents only got 3, I remember when I used to live there, I would hand out so much candy we had to go through a couple of bags. Why don't people go anymore? Are they scared or something?

We had hundreds of kids go through our neighborhood. We were stingy in giving out only one or two pieces of candy per and we went through at least four bags of stuff.

we had a ton of kids too. just depends where you live. We had a bunch without costumes - about half. I just wanted to say "go put a fucking costume on, this isn't door to door hand outs". But, since it is door to door hand outs, they all go their candy.. We had 6 candy bars left, which we enjoyed for breakfast. (being an adult rocks)

I decided against getting more pumpkins today. I will get the little dickheads next year though.

Oh the 3rd kid who said he didn't have time was alone (though I think he was with another group and was just dragging behind) and looked like Chunk from the Goonies. I almost mentioned that he could claim that was his costume when I realized he'd probably have no idea what in the hell I was talking about.

yeah it's pretty sad when we've aged past the point where kids would get the reference, even ironically, the way teens do now with back to the future.
