i work overnights and have classes in the morning. so it's 12:30 on friday, and you know what that means. band of brothers on dvd and a 12 pack of milwaukee's best. the american dream. also posting on an internet message board |

not a lot of people know that milwaukee's best is a miller beer but if it's milwaukees best, then why does miller lite win all the awards? sparks too? |

i don't know because 100% of the beers you named are shitty. sometimes i'll ironically drink high life, though. |

sparks is ok. it's not a "good" drink. it's not even a beer. here's my top 10 beers: stella artois newcastle fat tire amber bock miller lite atomic 29 copper ale kiltlifter smithwicks oatmeal stout guinness / strongbow (or any other snakebite type drink.) that's a pretty broad spectrum imho |

i agree. this thread is now about you and me talking about beer and here is a list with numbers next to it 1. paulaner hefe-weizen 2. sam adams winter ale 3. shiner bock 4. pacifico clara 5. guinness 6. newcastle brown ale 7. rolling rock 8. fat tire 9. killian's irish red 10. dos equis |

1) Yuengling 2) Guinness 3) Smithwick's 4) Sam Adams Oh, I also generally dislike beer. My current drink of choice: Arak & Ginger Ale. Sarissa Candyangel |

Post subject: | Re: Second chances |
you know, i really like blue moon. i noticed i left out a good hefeweizen on my list. that easily beats out miller lite, so lets pretend it was originally in there. shiner bock is a lot like amber bock, imo. i think shiner is cheaper, but it's just as good. some bars carry that instead of amber. i like killians too, though lately whenever i go to a bar it kind of tastes flat to me. i dont know, maybe its just the specific bars because i used to really love 2$ 22oz killians @ applebees during happy hour. Sarissa you should get a snakebite somewhere. It's usually a cider / ale with guinness on top. it's like a black and tan kinda. cept better. |
Author: | randy [ Fri Oct 26, 2007 12:20 PM ] |
Post subject: | Re: Second chances |
i prefer my snakebites with ace, but strongbow is a good substitute. also my drink of choice for about the last year has been all the scotch i could get my hands on. usually shitty bottom shelf stuff like ballantine's. |

i'm not much of a hard liquor drinker tbh. i only have a couple drinks if i am though: wiseguy -- coffee + vodka dr. pepper & rum white russian gin & tonic and very last but probably foremost, whiskey -- any irish will do. that's very few and far between though. i almost 99% of the time prefer beer. depends though. liquor is good for gettin' real shitty. beer i can gauge and pace. |

Vanamar wrote: johnny walker black (or blue, if I'm feeling spendy) ftw. strongbow cider otherwise. ok there moneybags. i actually just got a raise so i might be able to consistently get johnnie black (notice the spelling, nub) but at the rate i drink it blue is an impractical exercise |

black is not much more expensive at my local watering hole than lesser forms of scotch. blue, however, requires a trip to the fancy liquor store. |

If you haven't had the nectar that is Laphroaig - the world's finest Islay single malt scotch - you have not lived. Ah, bliss. A bottle can last me a long time. It's the ultimate out-on-the-deck-at-three-am whiskey, or sixteen-chapters-left-to-write whiskey... if I'm aiming to get drunk, I'll just add 151 or Everclear to whatever I'm drinking. |

Due to my last birthday and the fact the bartender was getting wasted with me (Which meant lots of free shot's) i can longer drink hard alcohol. No shit, it all makes me sick. However, I'm a big fan of anything hefeweizen. Current favorite is Pyramid hefeweizen, but there are a couple other brands that have been mentioned that i will have to try. |

With the discussion of scotch this thread got much better and i have to chime in with my current favorite Bruichladdich for a non peaty easy drinking scotch, although if i'm in a real peaty mood I go for straight for the Ardbeg. It's too bad I have to be in a mood to splurge to drink scotch as even the old standby Glenfiddich cost too much for daily consumption. |

You sir don't dictate what others talk about! I like maker's mark, I just find the taste overwhelming on scotch/whiskey/bourbon/etc, so some of the finer things get overpowered by 'sweet smokey barrel' is all I taste in any of them. I could go on about beers though, as well as Long Island Iced Teas. |

I really like midori sours, though most places seem to put in too much sour but that's easily fixed by asking for a double midori. Very tasty, but more a spring/summer drink. |

Makers Mark is plain ol' middle shelf bourbon. It's roughly equivalent to Reef's fav, Gentleman Jack. They're fine whisky if you just want a tolerable drink. If you're into bourbon though, do yourself a favor and try a decent small batch bourbon. Knob Creek is a fine one for a semi decent price. If you want to go spendy, try Bookers or Bakers. Very good whisky. Bourbon goes nicely with a good cigar too. It's a lot sweeter than scotch, and mixes nicely with a Pepin or Cohiba. |

Don Q Cristal Ron Del Barrillito If you ever go to Puerto Rico and drink Bacardi, people laugh at you. To the schmuck that compared Shiner to Amber Bock, get your taste buds examined. To anyone that didn't include Yuengling on your list, you obviously have never had it. Do yourself a favor and get some. I prefer it two bottles at a time. |

Besides my pink drink of cranberry/ketel one I drink beer. Beer is pretty much limited to wherever you are at because if you try to drink an import you will never get the taste you are hoping for. American beer for the most part is not very good; unless you go to some of the small brew houses. I had a couple last week in Memphis that were quite good. The only American beer I drink, and when I drink it it's like a religion, is Yuengling. Yuengling is the best gameday beer there is. You can drink it all day long and enjoy every drop. German beer - Augustiner Helles Irish beer - Smithwicks; it's damn good in Ireland and only draught. I don't drink Guinness.. Yes, yes. I know this disqualifies me to a lot of people but I just don't enjoy the taste. it's too much like coffee and I don't drink that either. Scottish beer - McEwans... Heineken overseas is damn good too..decent here. |
