Finished reading it all. So much good stuff I don't know where to begin. But what stands out to me the most is there is a lot of vintage Bagsworth there.

Bravo to anyone who still posts that took part in that epic war.

Now someone lied to me because I know I asked if anyone had a copy of this thread because I wanted some quotes for nostalgia purposes

Anyways, thanks for the post, that is great stuff. I honestly didn't remember half of that. Leana was the only leadership of Inevitable Storm (IS) at the time to get involved with that because the rest of us couldn't be trusted not to say anything ugly.

Good times. Thanks for memory lane.

Heh, that brings back a lot of game memories, such as Hylas on his cleric or on his warrior showing off the Scepter of Destruction. Or just having obscene amounts of platinum.

Opps, no edit option.

Other than that, I don't remember a lot of the names. Sashha the pally, I met her once on BoT, too annoying. Funny shit used to happen back then, long posts such as that one are the climax of such a lengthy Lanys story.

Well that's because the worst of the worst got banzored.

Actually reading that thread (and I read it all last night, laughing so hard I was crying at some points) one thing really amazed me. There was very little administrative action that had to be taken. Aside from one beating with the ban stick and a couple of warnings...it stayed pretty much in line.

That was one of the rare bannings that didn't bother me a bit though.

And I forgot how much ownage Droma could lay out when he chose, holy shit.

I'm not sure we could have the same kind of thread anymore, even if all those people were back here. People have changed-- we as a population are more cynical and less surprised by asshole tendencies in MMOs today than we were in 2003. I think it would just be much more difficult to stir up the pot today as much as the pot was stirred in that thread.

I agree, but for the opposite reason. I don't think we're more cynical, I think the group here has matured and treats each other (in general) with more respect. It's hard to call someone you have had reasonable dialogue with for 5+ years a string of obsenities, and if you do, it's going to be a short lived thing, not last for multiple pages.

Really, it's just hard to stay mad at people for that long when our natural tendency is to like who we associate with.

Good memories....nothing like having a few select idiots send tells trying to blame me for taking members from Iris when the members themselves came to me and asked if they were going to be able to join if they left.

I think games going to this retarded 24 man bullshit raiding system is killing alot of the joy that we used to get from the whole guild vs guild thing. Granted I am glad some games cater to the smaller casual player allowing them to only require small groups to raid but even VG is going the 24 man raid route and it brings a tear to my eye. Ladies don't lie, bigger is better!

I dunno I kinda like the smaller raids, mostly because from a guild perspective you can focus more on quality and have a smaller more intimate guild.

For example, my eq2 guild was maybe 32 people. But we were the best raiding guild on the server up till the end of the first expansion (when I quit). We knew how to work with each other perfectly to the point where we didn't even need to ask or be told when showing up for a raid. We just naturally formed our raid groups.

Yep, I like the smaller raids. Doing away with the idiot filler spots is ok in my book. I mean come on, admit it, not everyone in your guild was a good player back then - they were along because they were a needed class - that's it.

100% true....but that just means there is that much room for seperation between the best of the best and the average guilds in my eyes. However this only works if there is a large amount of content available for the different quality of guilds and also rewards that are scaled properly.

So the guilds that actually manage to form a 48, 72 man raid of highly competent players are able to beat the biggest and baddest events and be rewarded as so while the rest have to get better geared to make up for lack of ability/quality players before they can handle the fight.

This would be the ideal game setting I think, unfortunately todays trends are going the oppisite way. I would much rather see them working towards the above goals then just conceding that the majority of players are mindless sheep but I guess it might just be true heh.

True challenge is always managing the large groups of players both from a operational aspect of getting people to work as a unit and also the "OMGZ DRAMA" aspect of keeping 70 + people who don't know each other and all have 25" epenis's working together. Shit i even was against the 72 man raid cap in eq back in the day not that we ever raided with more (well ROA but.....) simply because I am extremely against artifical limitations in games, i think the best times we had were early day eq when you had room to breath so to speak. Shit design more content that punishes player fuck ups like they did in PoP and MPG trials where a few idiots caused a wipe so having more numbers weren't always beneficial.

Anyways i digress, they won't be going back to that line of thinking so no point in day dreaming.

I wonder if somebody made a thread about Uzziel and the shitbaggery he did if it would get locked since he's not here to defend himself either.

Maybe a certain unmentionable role playing cleric, who was the biggest lootwhoring mancunt on the server.

Or perhaps the gender confused of us that used to lurk. Surely someone who came here seeking advice on how to please its newly molded sexual organs shouldn't be shunned five years plus after the fact.

It's fine I guess. Boards need one dumb mod thread per year at least to fill quota.

What the fuck, nothing about me being drunk with power? I'm disappointed Givin. Sadly disappointed.

And if you recall, threads about Anathea were also locked and removed from the old board as well for the same reasons. Regarding issues that specifically happened in the wonderous land of EverQuest...sure that was allowed to a degree. Discussing aspects of people's personal lives outside of the forums...no. But you know that.

After all I suppose one could make the arguement that attacking someone's children should be fair game, because the information was gathered in EverQuest, just involved people's character names blah blah blah. But I recall you calling that for the absolute douchbaggery it was.

Indeed I did. And what would be the difference if we started talking about it here again, years after the fact.

None at all. Who gives two shits? Its old news that we just remembered. The bandwagon that everyone is preparing to go to war with left town 5 years ago. Nobody will give a rats ass about her two days from now, let alone back then. It's just something to look back on and go "I remember that, that was funny."

If talking about some drunk ass bitch who had one too many and puked up and down a driveway over 5 years ago gets peoples panties in a twist is cause for moderation, then it's high time some people took a step back and chill the fuck out. And it most certainly isn't the sect of people standing over here saying "Oh haha, you remember when she got plowed and projectile vomited all over Xkhanxs shit?"

And if you really want to go the route of "it happened in Everquest, it stays", im sure I could remind you of the circumstance those pictures even came into being.

You don't have to remind me, I'm well aware. Of that, and more. You seem to be mistaken that one has to like someone in order to take the action I did. Or perhaps I'm simply reading it wrong.

But this wasn't an issue of 'haha remember when soandso got drunk and threw up', it went beyond that on that thread. It went beyond it on the thread before it which was removed. People were asked to drop it, and didn't.

There's several examples I can give, but sadly not without doing exactly that. So we'll use my favorite standby Bob. It would be like 'Hey remember that time Bob's wife left him and posted that shit about him on the boards'. Okay...not too bad. But getting into much more than that like 'Yeah and here's screenshots of Bob begging his wife back lolz' and 'here's Bob's meltdown in raid chat haha' starts to cross a line especially when a person is banzored and cannot defend themselves. And when it goes far beyond that into people's personal lives, ...c'mon.

And again, this is hardly anything new or surprising either. I get that some people (maybe many people) miss the drama of the good old days, but that shit isn't drama of the good old days, it's pretty ugly shit about people's personal lives. And if you recall, regarding issues that affected and were affecting people in the community, we tried to walk a fine line between making people aware (both for their protection AND for the reputation of others) and not allowing it for various reasons both in maintaining the community and not getting sued.

I'd agree that it's tactless, I'm just not so sure talking about it should be moderated. We've all seen the pictures, they're already in our heads, I don't see what harm could come from continued discussion about them. Any real damage that could have been done has already been done.

Beyond that, I'd say let what's left of the community regulate and define itself. If it's tactless, I'm sure people will let those who say such things know about it.

I'm open to a discussion about it. I'd like to lay out some ground rules (some requests, some 'it must bes') for such a discussion. I'd like you (or someone) to start a thread on it. It needs to be about the issues, rather than the people involved specifically. Meaning, it can be hard to make a point sometimes without crossing the line (like in my post) hence the use of my 'Bob' rather than a real example. But please don't do stuff like 'Remember the time Bob threw up at Khan's house' because...c'mon. :p

My request would be that I'd like people to participate honestly with their opinions on it. And while tempting, don't be trolling administration to troll administration. I'm not even implying either you or Givin are (because you know me, I'm blunt, I'd say it if I thought you were)...I'm just saying I'd like to keep it on track.

Anyhoo, would be open to discussing it. I'm not sure if I, or the others will change position, but I'm always open to discussion and always open to making change or reversals when I think it's the right thing to do.

Danke. Back to your regularly scheduled drama. ;)

the one thing I have to say, is that the old rules were in place because we couldn't violate ezboard's TOS. The only person who's TOS we have to worry about now is Cak's hosting providers, and they're probably a lot more lax about things.

Actually, I do have a second thing to say..I also think it's time that the community chose their own moderators (if they even want moderators at all), but that's just me.

Yea, wtf do we need moderaters for? It's so cute, all the mods have their own cute little forums, and so far Digilos, Taror and Neesha have all completely stepped way past the bounds flexing their mod muscles.

This isn't school, we don't need hall monitors.

I cannot believe Tarot locked that thread, its unbelievable.

That was part of the reason, the other part was legal concerns, as I believe you well know. Xianle wasn't banned with that lawsuit threat because of EZboard TOS issues.

As far as moderation changes go, feel free to bring it up. Less work (as in no work ;D) for me wouldn't bother me one bit. If the community wants to choose their own administrators, and Cak agrees...that would be great. IIRC someone made that a poll once, and it didn't go over. But that was a long time ago, and things change over time.

As I've said in the past on that issue though, I wouldn't be involved with it. So electing mods to get rid of some and keep others, wouldn't include keeping me. At the end of the day, it just doesn't work well as a democracy. Or perhaps it can, that's simply my opinion after all.

The 'omg modz gone wild' stuff is just, as always, funny as hell. The only time I've gone overboard on mod powa~ was the April Fool's gag. I did enjoy banning people that day. Mwhaha. :)

Yeah, it was stupid. But, we've already had the round of "MODS AND ADMINS suck" in Lanys history.

They're pretty much archaic rules as this web hosting is a COMPLETELY different beast, and Cak owns it IIRC. :/ EzBoard ftl but stupid rules ftl too. :(

I'm not saying any of the mods/admins "suck" per se.

I'm saying that the arbitrary process in which they are chosen sucks.

That locked thread is proof enough we still need moderators.

That's a personal opinion, Frib. I'd be curious as to what the community as a whole (or what's left of it) thinks.
