Finally, we are getting some.

Went to bed to nothing, woke up to about 4 inches in the driveway. It's not cold out, no wind, just a ton of snow falling. Least the kids are happy!
Not sure if I am or not (I hate how people drive in the snow).

This is up in Cleveland Ohio

Wow, I want your kids. Were they still that happy after you threw them out the door to shovel it? You did make them shovel it, right?

Its snowing again here in Seattle as well. How much fucking snow can we get in a year. Its supposed to be grey and raining now white and snowing. The 6 inches we had from a week ago was finally down to about 3 inches and the roads were just patchey spots of ice on the back roads. Now its dumping snow and everythings covered again with about an inch /sigh

I like snow and all but this is getting to be too much.

Our first snow of the year in good'ole Muncie Indiana also, I think we'd previously had a dusting but we got about an inch or so and the roads are kind of crappy.

First snow of the year in mid Jan? So odd! To make things even more odd, it's an odd Lake effect snow, which usually doesn't make it this south iirc.

Snow in Pikeville, KY! It's not that great but like others said, it's that good wet snow and it's making a mess everywhere. Hoping to see some accumulation tonight.

Upstate NY got about 3 inches of snow, but the roads are clear.

Kids don't shovel snow, mow the lawn, take out the garbage anymore. They sit on the couch and live with mommy and daddy forever and ever.

The heck they do.... tell that to my Mom and Dad. My kids will not be lazy either. I was lucky Mom and Dad didn't get into the retirement, I want to buy a farm, etc. until I was married. Though, I did have to spend a year with my Dad's coal company when I was 16. It's hard working for a relative, they have much higher expectations and they can say more to you.

Snow still isn't laying too well here btw... :(

Oh, I had to do all that manual labor, but I don't see it happening with kids today ages 14-18. I read a statistic that back in 1990 25% of young adults 18-25 lived at home, today in 2007 that statistic is 50%.

Now some you might attribute to the recent recession, but most of the kids I've seen living off mom and dad work some dead end slave wage job and have no plans for college or any advanced training.

Azzi,

This is all very true. Working with as a Youth Minister now for nearly 10 years. This proves to be very apparent. I can't believe how different things are in this respect. I believe we have taken the phrase, "I don't want my kids to go through what I had too..." way too far. It's great that we can give our kids (i'm including myself in this) nice homes, help them with their first car, their education, etc. However, we neglect them of the character building hardships that our families and parents had to go through which made them the pillar of this nation. I'm glad my parents were so supportive growing up but, I did understand consequence and responsbility. Also, I understood work ethics and so forth. I hope I can teach my kids the same principles but unfortunately, they'll probably just end up working for someone that was handed an ownership in a company... but that's ok too :)

Warren Buffett has an interesting article about something very similar to this. I wish I could find it off hand...

Like your pasty white, puffy ass couldn't use the exercise shoveling a wee bit of snow.

I am surprised you didn't blame 'W' for the white fluffy and then tell us how much better it is in Cannukville when it snows.

You're slipping big D.

We got like four inches over night :( I wish it was four feet. Living in the middle of all the ski resorts in CO makes you want snow...ticked me off that AZ and NM got so much snow and we didnt get hit with any of it really in the mountains.

the fact that most of San Antonio, TX had the above kind of weather for a few days was just nuts. :p Although I suppose I should start preparing now for our return to Boston and this kind of cold weather again after 6 years in the south. :p

It's snowing in Southern Arizona now. Snowing pretty good, in fact, we've got about an inch on the ground so far and it's supposed to snow all night.

Snow and ice in Maryland / DC area finally. We had been dodging all those giant ice storms and blizzards most of countries been getting.
