So apparently after I stopped playing, they started allowing you to transport PLEX in your cargo.

This poor bastard was carrying 74 of them ($1200 US or 20 billion isk, give or take), got scanned by a pirate, blowed up, then podded.

Too bad the plexes were destroyed when the ship went boom.

I've never played EVE, but it sounds like it goes like this: You make a ship, build it up...make in game resources and currency and then some guy or clan with nothing but time on their hands blows your stuff up and you start over from square 1.

It's a game with almost no rules for it's pvp. It's not for the faint of heart.

It also makes for fantastic drama stories every once in a while!

I sort of liked the feeling you get flying your "good" ship through low sec.

Made for some amusing pirate reactions when you pop out of the gate in 0.3 space in your CNR with faction fittings. :P

I had a pretty bad experience that essentially made me quit the game (and it was pretty tame compared to some other horror stories), but I did enjoy it quite a bit while I played. My problem was that I played alone, and playing alone is not the easiest thing in the world. Especially if you ever had to go to low sec. Had I taken the time to get in a Corporation, or had a Team Bro (tm) to tool around with, I'd probably still be playing the game today. I still log in when they have free weeks and stuff, just to get a little more training in, in the event that I ever do decide to play again.

How long does it take to get to the point where you got enough isk laying around where you can pay your subscription through these PLEX things?

What's the point of transporting them? It doesn't seem like a good idea if they can be stolen or destroyed but there must have been some reason if he was carrying that many.

Once you get your industry skills up, or you run a shitton of missions, you can buy plex pretty easy. They were going from 325-340million isk when I was playing last.

Transporting them from Jita (where they're cheap) out to low sec (where they're not, and where some people can't enter Empire space) can be highly profitable also.

Man, that is pure awesome. Wish the gameplay was more interesting to make these kind of dramatic dealings more exciting =/

It's still sad that you'd have about 500 GMs on top of a case where anything even remotely close to this happened in WoW. Something hardcore and unexpected happened, everyone organize the mommy patrol to make sure casuals aren't alarmed.

Did the EVE guys actually end up taking any action, or pretty much just say it's part of the game? If the latter, then that is awesome.

Uh, CCP doesn't really do *anything* against pirates -- they take a massively laissez faire approach and let the populace police themselves.

So much so, in fact, that they have elections and people vote for players to become politicians (for lack of a better word). The people who win these elections actually get to provide input to the developers to help shape the game. It would be like Tigole being elected way back in EQ and actually being able to contribute to improve the game, rather than just posting rants and raves on his guild website.

Yea that's sorta what it sounded like from reading the original post. Really wish more companies would endorse that kind of policy, as it allows communities to thrive and all sorts of crazy shit like this to happen. If you only allow your game to take on what is expected, it just seems like developers are missing out on what the potential enjoyment is for a massively multiplayer game.

In the corp I am in, I know one person who runs lvl 4 missions to pay for his 4 accounts, the setup he has he blasts right through them.

It is an interesting game where you can start with a 14 day trial and if you really push can get to a point where you can start buying the plex cards and keep it going.

Living in null or low sec isn't that bad. And if your in an Alliance or Corporation that holds space the rewards are that much better. Sure I lose ships but it's the PVP that makes the game enjoyable for myself. If any of you want to experience what it's like to live in null sec I can help you by putting you in touch with people I know who are CEO's of Corporations. I can say that you won't be able to join the Corp I'm in but maybe one of the Corps in the alliance.

Fantastic!

edit: Is it possible for the players to band together and wipe out even the high security space? Kind of like how we would raid Home Cities (felwithe, kelethin etc..) and slay all the NPC's.

No, CONCORDE will destroy anyone who tries to do that in high sec, that's why the thing Neesha posted was described as a "suicide attack"
