The only thing it has in common with City of Heroes is the theme.

This is World of Warcraft with super heroes with the occasional bit of Warhammer thrown in for flavor.

What I like about it:

It is a good time killer. It's just mindless beat em up fun.

Names aren't unique. You can use any name you wish because it's sorted by account name.
---Example. I am Buttfucker@Givin01 and you want to make your own Buttfucker. You would be Buttfucker@YourUsername. So now everyone can make their very own Sepiroth, Cloud or Sakura!!!!

It looks good. Its a step up on CoX. It's pretty obvious if you played CoX where some of the costume pieces came from.

The character creation, just like CoX, is amazing. Most anybody who will play this will fill their allowed slots very quickly. LOTS of powers. There are a lot of powers that don't do very much, or are very useful, but hoooly shit they look great. Wide variety of travel powers too that you get at level 6. Oh and when you train up, you can actually test powers out before you zone out. If you dont' like the one you picked, just retcon it and choose another. It locks it when you save but this is a GREAT feature that City of X needed forever.

What I don't like:

The energy buildup shit takes some getting used to. Maintained powers as well. You can tell this shit was made for a console. I'm gonna hook a 360 controller up to this and play. This is probably the only time you will ever see me say that joystick DESTROYS keyboard/mouse.

One server. This is good and bad. The good, it is populated. The bad, it is populated by EVERYONE. That means you will be playing with goons. You will be playing with 4channers and you will be playing with hardcore roleplaying furry faggots. Right now it's pretty much the equivalent of a gang war. The forums are a cesspool thanks to all sides.

Cryptic is on a nerf spree at the moment, causing a huge turnover of builds and whatnot. Was to be expected. People who rolled fotm builds are pissed. I build my characters for the looks.

I'll post some screens later.

thanks for the summary givin, I may give it a go once the dust settles a bit. I like the Eve styled single server, let's them police the game better IMO.
