If this is fine, then I'm scared about launch. Israphel is terrible for me.

What does it mean when a health bar turns green? And why do I gain DP as a chanter "whatever the hell that shit is" so damn slow. 50 points a kill, and my only ability I have costs 2,000 points to use, has a 30 second duration with a 1 min cooldown.

As best as I can tell, green health bar means you have some kind of debuff on you. Doesn't seem to matter what debuff, just any at all. Everyone gains DP slow, it's kind of like your "ultimate" ability. There are potions that give you a ton of DP though. I dunno about Israphel Nananea. I was fine all last weekend for the most part but my friend playing with said he was rubber banding the entire time. I'm not sure why some people experience problems and others don't.

After 3 days, I can pretty much say this is the most boring game I have ever played.

Looks good, is polished but there just isn't going to be enough to do. I pretty much look at this 1.5 NA release patch as "the rest of the game we forgot." It pretty much is just Lineage 2 and 1/2.

I don't think PvP can even make this fun. Surely rolling around in 12 man plus ganksquads might be ok for a while, but that shit is gonna get old fast. I don't even see fortress fights being fun.

Pass.

I didn't even log in yesterday. I don't know if it's because I don't feel like grinding 25-30 in beta or maybe the game has gotten old for me too but I've kinda lost the desire to play for now.

I sat and pondered it and figure that I will log in at launch, save all my names on my desired servers and play the month out. Leveling is a non issue and simple as hell, and if all the talk of 1.5 is true, it will be much better as well.

Initial PvP wave is always fun.

There is no reason to test this game. It's as good as its gonna get, and half the shit you may find has probably already been fixed in the overseas patches. I understand the basics of the game and how it's going to play out.

I suspect there will be a rush of 2 foot tall ranger/assassains with all sliders to the left "smallest" except for tits and ass sliders.

Sad thing is that's an improvement. We had 6-8 hours que times for the "headstart" Sunday and Monday. What's happening is that everyone is setting up their personal store so they don't have to go back through the que when they go to bed/eat/work/whatever so the que just grows and grows.

I'm playing this until tekken 6 br comes out for xbox360.

templar lvl 17 - if you really lose abyss points as you work your way up to abyss weapons or whatever its gonna suck as a templar solo.

Is this game really that bad? FoH board have been somewhat positive. Youtube has more positive videos than negative and it seems the only thing people say anything it's the fact AION isn't revolutionary but just a blend of WoW, EQI/II, and Lineage I/II.

I still think I may hang out in the console world until The Old Republic shows me something. I hear there will be a beta announcement on Friday.

Unless you have a reviewer that's good at avoiding the "new thing" rush (I like to think Givin is good at that.) it's hard to really take early reviews all that seriously.

Eh, I prepaid forever and a day ago on Steam. Figured what the hell. I knew it wouldn't be for me, but free is free.

Yes, it is very polished.
Yes, it is very pretty.
Yes, it is very playable, once you get past the uberqueues.

There isn't a whole lot to say that hasn't been said. Nothing to really shit on it over, other than those queues and the only reason its like this is the large number of box sales, and the fact they are future-proofing it somewhat by not having eleventy billion servers ala Warhammer.

It's just, boring for some reason. I kinda felt the same way in beta, but just really wanted to see what 1.5 was all about. People talk ths and that about the grind later, but it's not beating my head against mobs for hours that has me down. The game just has no soul. Looking at all those mass castle pvp battles doesn't even give me a chub.

Grouping is actually a worse exp to time ratio in most cases. You group, finish elite quests, then boot everyone and go back to grinding harpies.

Instances aren't bad grouping, but grats 16 hour lockout timer on the early good one in the 25-30 range, where the exp begins to get tight for the first time.

Grouping is decent exp. It's just another case of FFXI where the party needs to be within a 4ish level range. Sorc is also a must for elite areas as the only reliable CC class.

Best exp is probably duo healer/dps. I leveled past the first instance in two days, plus hardly anyone was high enough to run it, and two groups fell apart cuz people in it "peeked" inside before the group started and got locked out.

Lvling up my crafting/gathering while I still get exp from it currently. The 20's seem like nothing compared to the 50-64 million exp per level past lvl 40. :x

Then on top of that rumor has it (cuz no one reads Korean well so all we get is rumor and shoddy translated info) that only some quests are getting exp adjustments. Also 2 million exp quests are a drop in the bucket. Still would need to grind your balls off if everything was 4x exp. The earlier levels would be a bit smoother though.

More Aion lulz.

From upcoming patch notes:
Quote:
"1. When you extract Aether, there’s a chance that Aether Poison Gas will infiltrate your body. The poison blocks gathering for a certain period of time unless you detoxify the poison.

- Once you are poisoned the only way to detoxify yourself is to utter the "Cleansing Word.”

- To utter the Cleansing Word, type the randomly given letters and numbers within the designated time

- When you utter the Word, you get three chances to enter the correct letter/number sequence. If you fail three times, Vitality Extracting and Aether Extracting are prohibited."

This is being put in as an anti chinaman bot countermeasure . These fuckers will bot and gather this Aether shit and sell it on the AH. Why? Because it's tedious as fuck to do and it's a guaranteed sale because you have to have TONS of the shit for tradeskill grinding. Nobody likes to do this. If you do then you are a dumb faggot. To get it, you have to fly around and harvest it. It's dumb. You fly up, harvest a few times, depending on your level and how much flight time you have, then land and let that shit regen. it's slow, tedious, basically perfect work for those third world fuckers.

People actually enjoy this aspect of china farming because it works.

Now, with this change, or at least until the botters can script in the ability to respond with the secret password, nobody is going to farm the shit. The price will skyrocket. People will buy gold. Terrorists win.

Couple that with the fact Aion has the WORST chat box of all time. Who makes an MMO without chatbox opacity.

That's been known for a while, but if you want the news in Aion's terribulness look no further.

Unless you're on Siel, the server top end "clans" flocked to as well as most of the K-Aion rerolls who don't want to compete with uber Koreans, your high-end economy is slow as hell. It takes 15 mil at the moment just to attempt to become an expert weaponsmith and 3 professions use weapon flux, which only drops off 46+ mobs, and unfeasible to solo farm because you can go 1-5 hours and only see one flux and it might be armor or accessory, not a weapon. The aether change only tacks on to the major suck.

The most efficient way to gain PvP ranks/farm abyss points is to PvE. Grind mobs, avoid PvP at all costs because if you die you lose a day of work at officer ranks.

Fortress crashes/64 bit OS/having over 2k vram issues still exist with no fix in sight.

There's several campaign missions where you get teleported at the start with no prompt and once that's used you need to get back to where you were teleported on foot. This isn't so bad if one of those campaigns was 48-49 elites.

I used to think the 3-4 bots at 40+ were a nuisance, when I made an alt I ran into nothing but bots farming in teams going every which way. Many non-RMT players bot just because the chance of being banned for it is next to nothing.

Aether change never went through, bots were banned en masse and a lot of the simpler botters bit the dust. Quite a few read only bots still around, whatever that means! It hit the economy pretty hard. 1 mil kinah was down to $1.50, it shot up to $16 and now it's back down to $4. Prices were reflected on the broker as flux and other gatherables that only fucking bots would farm sky-rocketed. They have yet to deliver the second half of their last update.

The crafting system is a lot dumber than I expected, even without flux. Spend quite a bit of time arguing with casual expert crafters about it. They think it's perfectly acceptable to have a system where you can potentially fail to crit a crafted item 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 times if RNG is cruel enough to you. There are people out there with that many attempts at expert.

None of the high-end crafted gear is better than Miragent's/Fenris' gear. None can even be sold for profit because the cost to refine the raw materials is greater than what you get back. Miragent's is pretty much the best PvE set in the game and fairly decent for PvP even considering it gives you like 2k HP and an end-game weapon. It only costs kinah and a bit of time to complete, all quested/soloable. The 4th piece you get is luck based and surprise! It's because you have to craft an item for it. The materials to make it are highly sought after too.

On top of killing 13 bosses in the only 50 instance worth running and only getting A) class specific loot no one needs or B) NOTHING LOL 90% of the time, you can imagine how many people have quit by now.

RNG is everywhere, from manastones, to enchanting, to crafting, to drops, and it's just a content bottleneck to mask the severe lack of shit to do.

Still giving it a solid half year that I said I would from the start though. Though the game is dying faster than Age of Conan. It was also revealed shortly after their Aion Visions trailer that none of that stuff was planned for future updates or an expansion, or even make it into the game. It's exactly what they called it, a "vision" of what they want to do with Aion.

It just amazes me that no one has been able to come out with anything to even compete with, much less replace the turd wow was become. It seems for that to happen a game has to come out essentially completed with an expansion sitting in the wings waiting to release in a month.

EQII, LOTRO I think had a chance had they managed to draw in a larger playerbase initially.

EQ2, as it is now, is probably a better game than WoW, as it is now (WoW was a much better game a few years ago, in my opinion). But too many people have too much invested in WoW to change at this point.

Found out last week that a good chunk of the old EQ2 Mithril Web folk have moved to Aion (led by Aeralla), so I've given this game a shot to not only see those people again, but to be able to put my convictions of this game to the test.

The first week was enjoyable so far, although I got my first taste of bot spam last night and it was absolutely ridiculous. Every channel I was on, including even my class channel, was spammed to the point where communication was impossible. Not fun at all.

But otherwise, it's not too bad. Haven't done much crafting, and just getting into Abyss levels now, so I can't comment much on those - but the game does seem to confirm my first impressions of it: Lineage II clone, but with a bit more to do and much better graphics. Which is ok, if that's what you want. If you want WoW, you won't find it here, that's for damn sure.

Yeah I'd agree w/that. Way more variety, a better AH and better trade skill interaction. Just not enough people on the servers and little to no info online.

The EQ2 forums are pretty informative, or at least they were when I still played.

A good portion of the information in the EQ2 forums is outdated and borderline useless. EQ2Flames.com tends to have better information. But even those boards have lots of useless shit and you have to put up with lots (LOTS) of assholes in virtually every post.

Yep, EQ2Flames is the equivalent of FFXI's "Killing Ifrit" forums. What Givin once referred to as a "the Mos Eisley of FFXI". There's some good info, but you have to wade through the shit to get to it.

I can't seem to get into EQ2. Every time I give the game a shot, I'm completely turned off by the amount of button-mashing with the number of abilities you mash on every cooldown. I tried raiding a bit shortly after Shadow Odyssey came out, but the raid bosses were even more stale than WoW's bosses(I didn't think it was possible). Tank and spank boss #1, tank and spank boss #2. To EQ2's credit, bosses have become a little more interesting with recent expansions, but there's still less movement and less requirement to pay attention than most of WoW's bosses at current. Seems like there's almost no need for any reaction time anywhere in the game, and the questing... even after all the years of work they've put into expanding it, still feels even more boring/grindfest than WoW(and personally, I'd never level another toon in WoW).

EQ2 still has a couple things going for it - massive number of class/race combinations and char customization make for a more unique experience than WoW's "select from 5 different hairstyles which will be covered by your helm(and let's face it, who leaves the option off when they want to show what loot they've gotten) to customize your character!!". The world also feels more immersive than WoW's in my opinion, and it feels like there's a little more freedom given to the character. There's less of a "tunnel" feel or a feel of being funneled straight to the end level with no diversions.

Would be nice if there was a game that incorporated all of those aspects, but I just don't think the lack of gameplay on EQ2's part is made up for with those other qualities. If you're bored of WoW, EQ2 might be more fun for you. If you're bored of both games but still want some RPG to play online, WoW is still superior.

Had massive luck with world bosses in past two days. One end-game sword and a decent offhand and some good armor. Still wasted few hundred million on crafting that I'll never see, and having fun watching complete scrubs crit their first heart and cry about cooking not "making any money" when they've only spent like 45 mil to be decked out in golds. -_-

I'm playing FE with some F13 peeps. I don't have much to add past what you know from beta. I'm only 35, in Sector 3. It's pretty much the same stuff you see in S1, except a few new mobs and a little tougher set of abilities.

I love the crafting system, especially the offline crafting. I'm kinda disappointed that chota faction weapons are better than anything I can craft, but such is life.

Oh and I hear S4 is coming out soon too.

So damn bored.

With ya on that, Larreth. We remain in the MMORPG dark ages. Here's to hoping one of the 2010 releases show some promise.
