I'd actually consider coming back if I could get my old taru back but I think I burned every bridge account wise that I could to prevent returning. Deleted all chars, gave everything away and deleted my play online.

Not really sure I could go through the hassle again of leveling a melee just so i can farm crap to relearn cooking and fishing.

There really is nothing on the AHs other than Jueno. I got level 10 last night and was going to buy some gear for the dunes.. and nothing. That's a real pain in the ass.

I'll probably just reroll tonight since I landed on the wrong server.

I actually found a couple friends that were playing on Asura so I just ended up over there. Waring the taru if anyone drops in.

Is dunes at 10 wrong? Thats what I did in the past when i rolled war... couldnt imagine soloing my way to 17, did you duo to 17?

It's just I don't even see a level 10 being viable in dunes, let alone making it to dunes. Even with oils, powder and stuff it would be kind of hard because that stuff lasts no time at that level

I've read about people going there. I just don't see why unless the level synch parties are that badass.

You can get buffed with Regen/Refresh that lasts an hour starting at level 1 by doing a quest. You can do this all through the game now apparently and it makes a HUGE difference.

Where did you find this quest? I'd have no problem soloing if I had that. Dunes is possible, the run sucks but once you're there eventually groups take you in... or at least they did in the past.

You can solo your way to level ten in almost no time at all. I was averaging about 4k exp an hour, and I wasnt paying attention most of the time, just farming EP mobs. I imagine its even better if you're not playing a Warrior. They did make it a bit easier to pick up and play.

Look for Field Manuels outside of zone ins. Examine them and they will give you some options. Individual missions, and Field Support for buffs. You do the missions for tabs, then use the tabs to pay for 1 hour buffs and temp food buffs.

Do you guys want me to help you set up a linkshell so you can communicate easier? If so try to pick out a color and name or something.

I'm going to level up and find me a shell I think. I could use some help killing a few Bogys in Bub Peninsula later today tho. I forgot how gay curse is.

Soloed up to 13ish as a RDM. Was contemplating moving to Bub Penninsula to try and find a group or maybe Dunes. What makes it difficult is equipment and scrolls are non-existent on the AH in the starting cities (it seems).

And Eli. I wouldn't mind. I certainly don't intend on playing solo forever, as it gets pretty boring.

That level sync is pretty awesome- I took a trip down to the dunes at level 14, got a group together fairly easy cause you don't have to worry about someone being too high level now, everyone synced down to my level and we were killing stuff real easy 200ish xp+ a kill. Eventually I hit 16 and exp came down to like 70-100ish a kill, so we invited another level 14 to the group, re-synced to his level, and now we're all getting 200+ xp again. I gained almost 5 levels in a single group there constantly swapping around members and it was actually a pleasant experience. Go go new FFXI!

I've been 14 for 3 days in Dunes. Haven't been able to get a decent group.

Maybe you should play on Asura :p Everyone I've met here so far has been real cool.

I used to do BCNMs with some chinafarmer named Napoleon or some spelling like that on Asura. Everyone hated this son of a bitch. He made me a very rich man. I heard he would skip out and not pay people, but he was always prompt with my share and made sure I was his Thief/Ninja for BCNMs.

Sure it was probably because i was always avalable, but I could care less about other peoples cash. I gots phat paid. This was way back when Refresh was selling for like 500k.

I wonder if he's still there.

i haven't met anyone at all really. some dude asked me some high end trivia question and then gave me 5k gils, i assume because he didn't know if was a newbie or not. i saw some people i recognize from the mmo hmo thread working up subjobs (i guess) in the sarutas, but i've leveled 1-9 in 2 days solo with pretty much no problems of any kind. of course, i also forgot that i could buy spells so at like 7 i went and bought stone which changed everything.

Anyone else having difficulty connecting through any of the 30,000 hoops PlayOnline make you jump through, or getting stuck at a frozen "Downloading Data" while going in FFXI?

I use Windower to run 3 instances of the game, two accounts that I play and 1 perma mule that has been selilng eggs for the past week straight with zero interruption. I have played fine since the 8th.

Last night, I take the two main boxes and get on the boat to Selbinia. One zones over fine, the other gets stuck loading. So I reload that account. While trying to do so, I get hammered with timeouts from PlayOnline saying network connection this and that. The other two clients are fine, vent is fine, No network troubles etc etc.

It's getting late and since I can't have both main accounts open at the same time I decide to just see what happens when I log, thinking its probably dumb connection issues. Second account does similar with the PlayOnline stops, but I find that I can just force past them by just retrying. I can get into the 2nd accounts character just fine.

All mules on all 3 accounts work fine. It's really just the connectoin retrys and that one main character.

I did manage to get in this morning, thinking the problem was fixed, but just now lost him zoning from Selbina to Valkum.

Sucks. I was really getting into it too. About to go get chocobo license shit.

I am fucking destroying this game the second time around.

Just finished first set of subjob leveling and almost 400k to the positives. Everyone selling those eggs for stupid low prices like 100 gil. I leave mine up for 1k and people buy just as fast.

The Dunes turned out a lot better than I could ever hoped for. Ended up going from 11 to 16 in no time at all. I'm really glad I gave this game a shot at this point. I actually get to enjoy grouping with people for hours on end to exp, and its still a lot more challenging than most mmos. The next test will be if I still feel this way after I get done leveling my sub job... then once again at level 30 when I unlock the other jobs.

Most classes can solo to 60ish using Fields of Valor. Possibly up to 70ish now after the most recent patch. Plus 60+ Campaign becomes a viable form of xp (although 65+ is really where you want to be here).

Hell, I was soloing as a Summoner just fine. And not on bombs (though that was fun too).

As for Dunes at 10 - these days, why not. Better gear; FoV buffs such as regen/refresh; and the lizards are only level 13/14ish, so barely IT+. Milk those to 14ish, then move to crabs till 16, then pugils to 18/19, then Qufim for super-fast worm xp. Can do 1-20+ in a few days now.

You can pretty much be 20 in less than a day if you really wanted to, that would require you buying gear ahead of your level and just putting it on as you level. Depending on what class you play, you can just skip it and be gimp without anyone caring. I leveled a warrior first, so I made sure I had bone/lizard armor + ear/rings for as soon as i got to the appropriate levels. The most people that I found leveling were those who had about 5 75s at least, almost always there was someone mentoring down. Chances are you'll run into someone who will be more than happy to heal and tank outside of group too, letting the exp just fly in.

Working on my Monk sub now, got it to level 9 just a minute ago. I expect to be 18 by this time tomorrow.

I always thought level 10 was the normal starting level at the tunes? I see level 9 players there sometimes, they are usually healers though. I would tell anyone at level ten to LFG flag and just kill bees outside the dunes for money and exp, it has worked for me, beehive chips sell 5k+ a stack .

I'm playing on Asura with a few friends, Crowde was playing here too but I haven't seen him for a few days. I just got my new char to 30 and I'm starting on the job quests, if you end up playing here just drop a line to my character Draian.

So, I actually got my account back. It was pretty fast and simple. She just verified my information and gave all the data I needed back. Though... I sort of did it right after their character revival program had ended, like... 6 hours after, doh. lol

I was going to re-activate, but I was warned that I would be charged for all of the month of April even if there were like 2 days left, wtf. Heh.

SE sucks. ;P
