So I shelled out my $2.99 for Tapatalk so I could keep up with this forum on my phone, but it doesn't seem to be working right and I don't know why.

I am here right now on my laptop, and there are many forums with new messages, but Tapatalk on my phone says I have no unread messages in the "Unread" folder.

I'm wondering what I don't understand. Anyone know?

You need to keep you self signed into the board, it will check your last logon to what unread messages.

I can post on Rostral and see threads. When I select the board though it doesn't always list all the unread posts.

Hmm mine shows unread topics just fine, I don't know Fribur :( I don't have much control over what Tapatalk does. It basically just reads the board in a mobile format.
